 Teacher's activities

I. Warm-up:

- Ss listen and sing along the song “ To- My- Home- Town”.

II. New lesson:

1. Listen and repeat.

- Have pupils to open their books on page 56.

- Stick the large- sized sheet of paper with this section written on it on the board.

- Tell pupils they are going to learn how to produce the sounds of the letters ch as in coach and those of the letters th as in north.

- Produce the sound ch and th a few times and ask pupils to repeat coach, north.

- Play the recording twice.

- Guide Ss practice reading coach, north.

 - Call on some Ss say the words in front of the class. T correct mistake(s).

- Have whole class read aloud the words.

 2. Listen and read together.

Before listening:

- Get SS to observe the pictures and read the dialogues. Elicit their comments on the pictures and the texts.

- Read each line of the dialogues, stop at times to check students’ comprehension.

- Have Ss repeat sentence by sentence.

- Model: read the dialogues, clapping: much(1 clap), coach(1 clap), Beth(2 claps), month( two claps, north( two claps. Group the words into two columns on the board corresponding to the number of claps.

- Get Ss to clap in the same way as you read the dialogue again.

- While listening:

- Play the recording.

- Play the recording again for Ss to clap at the focused words.

After listening:

- Have Ss work in groups read the dialogues and clap their hands.

- Feed back: Call out some groups read the dialogues in front of the class. T give remark and correct mistake(s).

 III. Follow-up:

- Have pupils repeat the dialogues once more clap at the focused words.

IV. Homelink.

- Recite the dialogues at home.

I. Overview:
1. OBJECTIVES: 
-By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to listen and circle the pictures, ask and answer questions about their location, their hometown and mean of transport.
2. LANGUAGE FOCUS:
 - Sentence patterns:
 + What will your dream house be like? - It’ll be________.
3. TEACHING AIDS:
- Student Book : Tieng Anh 5, Unit 75, Page 55.
- Audio and visual aids: Recordings, flashcards, some pictures.

I. Warm-up: 
- Game: Slap the picture with the pictures in part 2 page 54.
II. New lesson:
3. Listen and circle:
- Have pupils look at the pictures on Page 55 and give them a few seconds to read the instruction and look at the pictures.Tell them the purpose of listening ( You are going to listen to some pupils talking about their trip to their hometowns or villages. You should listen and circle the letter indicating the appropriate answer in each number) .
- Tell Ss that they do not need to understand every word. They should make guesses base on the pictures and the contextual clues as they listen.
- Play the recording twice: once for Ss to listen all the way through and once for them to do the task.( pause after each part for Ss to have sufficient time to tick the picture).
- Replay the recording for Ss to check their answers. 
- Get Ss to correct the answers in pairs.( 1 minute)
- Ask some Ss to report their answers to the class.( If there is disagreement on any answer, play the related part of the recording again).
- Comment: Read out the correct answers to the class.
- Keys: 1b; 2a; 3c; 4.c.
4.Talk:
- Ask Ss to open their book on page 55, look at the pictures. Get them to read the instruction and make sure they understand the activity.They are to select two places on the map- one for their current location and one for their hometown.They are going to ask and answer questions about the means of transport they take from their current location to the hometown, using the guiding questions.
- Do the first Ex with the whole class in order to give them a clear idea of how the activity works.
- Guide Ss to work in pairs(in five minutes) to ask and answer questions about their dream houses using either the pictures in their book or the facts of their imaginary dream houses.
 - Feed back: Call on some pairs to demonstrate the task in front of the class. T give remark or correct mistake(s).
III. Summary.
- In this lesson you have listened and circle the pictures asked and answered questions about mean of transport.

 - Play the recording twice: once for Ss to listen all the way through and once for them to do the task. Pause after each word for Ss to have sufficient time to read and complete each word.
- Let pupils check their answers in pairs.
- Call on some pupils to report answers and the others give comments.

II. New lesson:
1. Look listen and repeat.
- Have pupils to open their books to page 58. Get Ss to look at the pictures and read the context sentence. Elicit their comments on the pictures and set the context: Nga is meeting Linda after the weekend. You are going to listen to their dialogues.Read the lines in the speech bubbles. Stop at times to check students’ comprehension. Teach the word: hour and get Ss to repeat the word a few times.
- Play the recording for pupils to listen all the way through.
- Play the recording twice again for pupils to repeat sentence by sentence.
- Divide the class into two groups to take turns to say the lines from Nga and Linda.
- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat to reinforce their pronunciation.
2. Point, ask and answer.
- Ask Ss to read the example and elicit their prompts to complete the speech bubbles.
- Write the question and answer on the board and get Ss to repeat them a few times in turn.
+How long does it take to get there by train?
- Five hours.
- Point to the pictures, read the prompts and check pupils’ comprehension. Recall and pre –teach the new word: minute. Get Ss to repeat each prompt a few times.
- Model the task with the whole class. 
 - Call on a few pairs go though the task with the rest of the characters in the pictures. Focus on pronunciation and fluency.
- Have pupils practise in pairs to take turn to ask and answer questions about a trip duration from one place to another.
- Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation and offer help when necessary.
- Call on some pairs to perform the task in front of the class, others observe and give comments if possible. Praise if the pair do well.
