Lesson 1 : getting started – listen and read .
Objectives.
-At the end of the lesson students can:
+Use words “ Recycling” 
+Use adjectives followed by an infinitive or a noun clause.

-Introduce the topic of the lesson to the students.(We are going to study how to make the environment cleaner.)

Presentation 
*Let the students talk about the harm of garbage in our society.
-Students give the idea how to help our environment.
-Ask the students to talk about recycling.
*Guide the students study the new words.
-Ask the students to read the dialogue then find the words.
+Read then the students repeat in chorus.
+Explain the meaning to the students.
-Help the students to study then new structures.
+Write on the board.
-Explain the meaning to the students.
-Give some examples.
Practice.
*Presentation the dialogue then explains the requests from the task.
+Students listen to the Audio-CD.
-Students read the text then talk what “Friends of the earth” do.
-Explain the meaning of Recycling, and three Rs: reduce, reuse, recycle…
-Let the students listen to the dialogue while looking at the text.
+Students work in pair to read the dialogue.
1.Ask the students to practice reading the dialogue in pairs:
-Call some pairs to check.
2. Help the students to get to know the dialogue by answering the questions.
-Ask the students to read the dialogue again then find the answer a) – e).
-Let the students compare their answers with the other.
+Work in groups to answer the questions.

-Call some students to check.
-Correct the mistakes if any.

We should use the cloth bags instead of plastic bags.
You are right. We should also reuse plastic bags.
We should use tree leaves to wrap things.
We should use used paper to make toys.
We should use garbage to make fertilizer.
We should use vegetable matter to make animal food.

1. Practice the dialogue with a partner. One of you is Miss Blake. The other plays the roles of Ba,Hoa and Lan
Students’ work.
2. Answer.
a) Reduce means not buying products which are over package. 
b) We can reuse things like envelopes, glass, plastic bottles, old plastic bags, ...
c) Recycle means not just throwing things away. Try to find another use for them.
d) We can look for information on recycling things by having a contact with an organization like Friends of the Earth, going to the local library, or asking our family and friends.
e) We shouldn’t use plastic bags because when we throw them away, they could stay very long and could not be self destroyed / demolished.
