 Lesson 1 (4 - 6)

A. Aim:

- By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to further practice:

 + use the words and phrases related to the topic animals at the zoo

 + ask and answer questions about animals in a zoo.

* Skills:

- Develop Ss speaking, reading and listening skills

* Language focus:

- Sentence Patterns: - What did you see at the zoo?

 + I saw .

* Teaching aids:

computer (overhead)

B. Procedure:

I. Warm up:

 Pass the ball

 What did you see at the zoo? – I saw .

II. New lesson:

1. Listen and tick

- Have sts to look 3 pairss of pictures

- Elicit the skill in each picture

- Give instruction.

- Play the recording twice for pupils listen and tick the correct pictures

- Ask sts to compare the answers with the partner.

- Play the recording again for sts to check their answers.

- Announce the answers.

- Ask some questions to ensure sts’ comprehension of the listening text.

*Key: 1.b 2.a 3. b

2. Read and complete:

- Tell sts that they are going to read and fill the gaps with the 5 words given.

- Give sts few seconds to read the text in silence.

- Check comprehension and give feedback.

- Give sts time to do the task and go around and offer help if necessary

- Get sts to work in pairs.

- Get sts to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.

- Call 4 pairs read aloud the questions and answers in pairs

3. Let’s sing:

- Show the song “What did you see at the zoo?”

- Have sts look at the pictures and give some ideas ;

Period: 53 Unit 8: What are you reading?
 Lesson 3 (4 - 6)
A. Aim:
- By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 
	+ further practice reading and writing about favourite book.
* Skills: 
- Develop Ss reading and writing and drawing skills
* Language focus:
- Revise from L1 + L2
* Teaching aids:
Pictures, poster, cassette (overhead, computer)
B. Procedure:
I. Warm up:
Reading the chant “What are you reading?”
II. New lesson:
1. Read and tick Yes (Y) or No (N):
- Show picture about Tom with the passage and elicit the content
- Give instruction.
- Elicit: 	Who is he?
	 	What is he doing?
- Ask sts to read the text to get information 
- Have sts read the sentences given below to compare with the information in the text to tick Yes or No for them.
- Have sts do the task individually
- Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary.
- Ask sts to work in pairs to check the answer 
- Call on some sts to report their answers.

2. Write about your favourite book:
- Have sts read the beginning phrases for sentences
- Have them answer the following questions
	+ Do you like redaing books in your free time?
	+ What’s your favourite book?
	+ Who is the main character?
	+ What is he/ she like?
	+ Do you like him/ her?
- Get some sts answer aloud
- Checking understanding how to write
- Have sts write in 10 mins
- Remind sts how to write in correct way (capital letters, comma, full stop)
- Get sts swap and read their writing in pairs
- Invite two or three sts to read their writing task
- Get sts give feedback
- Check and correct
	* Suggested answer:
	I like reading books in my free time. My favourite book is Snow White and seven dwarfs. The main character is a girl. She’s beautiful and kind. I like her very much.
3. Project
	Interview
- Ask sts to work in pairs to interview each other about their favourite books and characters
- Elicit ideasabout names of the books and characters along.
- Guide sts how to interview
- Model
- Sts interview each other
- Go around and check their work
- Comment 
4. * Reinforcement: Colour the stars
- Have the class read the statements and check their comprehension
- Invite sts to read statements aloud
- Check their understanding the meaning
- Give them to colour about degree that they got after the Unit 8

 Lesson 1 (1 - 3)
A. Aim:
- By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 
	+ use the words and phrases related to the topic animals at the zoo
	+ ask and answer questions about animals in a zoo.
* Skills: 
- Develop Ss speaking and listening skills
* Language focus:
- Sentence Patterns: - What did you see at the zoo? 
 + I saw .
- Vocabulary: 
* Teaching aids:
	Teacher’s: computer (overhead)
B. Procedure:
I. Warm up:	
Play badminton game with names of animals
II. New lesson:
1. Look, listen and repeat:
• Whole class: Have pupils look at the dialogue on the screen
- Ask pupils the names of the characters and what they are doing 
-Tell them that they are going to hear Linda and Tom are talking about what they saw at the zoo
- Explain the meaning of the language practised. 
- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. 
- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. 
- Some Ss role play and the others comment.
- Ask Ss to role play
- Ask Ss to role play before the class.
2. Point and say:
- Play the CD twice for sts listen and repeat
- Explain the pattern:
	What did you see at the zoo?
	I saw elephants.	
- Explain and Run through the key words/ phrases: python, peacock, crocodile, gorilla
- Point at each picture and ask the question base on the model 
- Have sts practice asking and answering in pairs 
- Monitor the activity and help sts if they need
- Invite some pairs to speak to check their performance
- Give feedback
3. Let’s talk:
- Tell class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about the zoo.
- Run through 3 questions:
	When did you go to the zoo? – I went there .
	What did you see at the zoo? I saw .
- Elicit the answers for questions one by one
- Model
- Get sts to work in pairs (or go around) to ask each other about the questions related to English in 5 mins
- Call some groups act out their work
- Give feedback
* Reinforcement:
- Have sts retell the content of the lesson.

Period 56 Unit 9: What did you see at the zoo?
 Lesson 2 (1 - 3)
A. Aim:
- By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 
	+ ask and answer questions about what animals did in the zoo.
* Skills: 
- Develop Ss speaking and listening skills
* Language focus:
- Sentence Patterns: - What did the  do when you were there? 
 + They 
- Vocabulary: roar, move, loudle, quietly, 
 Teaching aids:
	Computer + overhead
B. Procedure:
I. Warm up:
Sing the song: “What did you see at the zoo?”

- Have sts know how to chage into advs from the adjs.
II. New lesson:
1. Look, listen and repeat:
- Set the scene:
- Elicit the context of the picture
- Have sts look at the pictures and guess what the animals did
- Check comprehension by pointing at each picture to elicit their answers for:
	- What did the lions do?
	+ They roared loudly.
- Play CD for sts listen and follow in their books
- Play again – sts repeat
- Some Ss role play and the others comment.
- Ask Ss to role play
- Ask Ss to role play before the class.
=> Elicit the model sentences:
	A: What did the tigers do?
	B: They roared loudly.
2. Point and say:
- Have pupils look at pictures with actions the animals made. 
- Run through the phrase words
- Use flashcards to teach the question and answer in the speech bubbles. Have sts repeat the words a few times. 
- Model (a)
	A: What did the tigers do?
	B: They roared loudly
- Give instruction
- Point to each picture and ask how the animals did 
- Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times.
- Repeat the procedure with the second picture.
- Ask sts work in pairs.
- Call some pairs practice in front of the class.
- Check sts’ mistake when necessary.
- Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language.
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation.
3. Let’s talk.
- Have stst read aloud 2 questions given
- Tell the class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about what animals they saw and what they did
- Run through.
- Give instruction. 
- Model:
	What are your favourite animals at the zoo? – They’re 
	What did the tigers do when you were there? – They roared loudly.
- Give sts 3 mins for sts practice (about rael situations)
- Get sts to work in pairs to interact.
- Call a few pairs to practise in front of the class.
- Check ss’ pronunciation.
III. Reinforcement
Ask sts to retell what animals they saw and what they did
Have stst copy down new words and model sentences
