I. Warm up.
- Review the model sentences from unit1 to unit 5.
- Lead in the new lesson.
II. New lesson
1. Listen and tick.
- Have sts look at pictures 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 on page 70 of the student book.
- Run through.
- Give instruction.
- Play the recording 2 times sts to listen and tick the boxes. Check their guess. Compare the answer with the partner.
- Play the recording again sts check their answers. T gives the answer.
- Ask some questions to ensure sts’ comprehension of the listening text.

- Run through.
- Give instruction.
- Ask sts to read the text in the book and circle the best answer.
- Set the time for sts to work in pairs to do the exercise then exchange the answer.

Object: By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - Pronounce the sound of the letters: ed in the words: played, watched, painted. - Develop speaking and listening skill. B. Language focus: - Phonics: played, watched, painted C. Resources: handmade puppets, robot-teacher, photographs of greeting. D. Procedure: I. Warm up: - Ask sts to recall what they have been learnt from the last lesson. - Comment. - Lead in the new lesson. II. New lesson. 1. Listen and repeat - Have sts to concerntrate on: ed in the words: played, watched, painted. - Pronounce the focused sounds a few times as a model. - Play the recording twice for sts to listen and repeat. - Ask sts to repeat and others give feedback. - Let sts listen to the CD again then tell how to pronounce the sound of the letters: ed in the words: played, watched, painted. - Ask them to compare the sound of these wordswith Vietnamese. - Give feedback. * Language note: + ed in Vs ending by the sounds: t, d is pronounced /id/. + ed in Vs ending by the voiceless sounds: ch, s, x, k, p is pronounced /t/. + ed in Vs ending by the voiced sounds: t, d is pronounced /d/. 2. Read and listen to the story - Set the scene. - Play the tape for sts to listen and read. - Help sts get the idea of the story, simply let them read and listen to this episodes, the initial task will be more challenging. 2. Complete the conversation - Run through. - Ask sts to read the story in the book and fill the suitable words to complete the dialogue. - Ask sts to work in pairs to do the exercise then practice in pairs in front of the whole class. The rest listen to and give the remark. - Correct the pronunciation. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the story Key: 1. day 2.
