Picture Drill
Example Exchange
S1:IS he riding a bike?
S2: No, he isn’t
Presentation:
- Use pictures about road signs to elicit the content of this part.
- Tell them the meaning of each road sign.
- Show them which signs allow them to do something, then some signs that forbid them to do things.
- Use “can” and “can’t” and let them realize the different of each road sign.
- Look at the pictures about road signs shown by the teacher.
- Play attention to each road sign and its meaning.
- Look at the signs and try to find out which signs allow us to do something and which ones forbid us to do things.
- Realize how the teacher expresses the road signs with modal verb “can” and “can’t”.
1. Listen and repeat:

-> one way

Structures:
- You can park here.

Practice:
- Let them listen to the cassette then read the passage.
- Let them practice in groups. Ask and answer about the passage.
- Have them copy the passage and write the questions and answers.
- Let SS look at the signs and complete the sentences with “can” or “Can’t” and write in the notebook.
- Listen to the cassette and read the passage by themselves.

Can:
a. Affirmative:
S + CAN + Bare_infinitive...

b. Negative:

c. Interrogative:
CAN + S + Bare_infinitive?
Eg: Can I go straight ahead.
 Can they park here?
Must:
a. Affirmative:
S + MUST + Bare_infinitive
Eg: I must go straight ahead.
 He must turn right.
b. Negative:
S + MUST NOT + Bare_infinitive 
Eg: I must not turn left here.
 She mustn’t go into that street.
c. Interrogative:
MUST + S + Bare_infinitive?
Eg: Must we slow down?
 Must he stop?
Homework:
- Write the lesson into notebook.

- Show them pictures. Ask them to look at the pictures while the teacher reads the text.
- Explain the new words.
- Have them repeat the new words.
- Listen to the teacher’s explain.

- dangerous (adj): nguy hiểm
- many: nhiều
- accident (n): tai nạn
- discipline (n): hệ thống điều lệ/kỷ luật

Practice:

- Ask them some questions and have them practice in groups.
- Mention the verb “must” and “mustn’t”.

3. Prepositions
Look at the food store. A girl is in the store. A boy is waiting in front of the store. There are mountains behind the store and some houses opposite it. There are some trees to the left of the store. There is a truck to the right of the store.
