Activity 1: Warm up ( 8’)

1.- Divide class into two groups
- Review the last lesson by showing some picture of a dog, cat, turtle,
- Use a piece of paper to hide picture and then slowly lift the paper up to reveal the picture. Ask children to call name of thing in each picture.
1. Pay attention to the pictures and call out the name of thing in each picture in English.
Activity 2: Teacher’s presentation and students’ practice.(12’)

1. Teach the new word: rat, like, swim, lake by showing pictures of a rat, a girl is swimming, lake, an apple
- Show picture of a rat and ask students: “Is it a rat”?

1. – Hold up alphabet cards with / l/, /j/, /z/,/v/ /n/ letters: for the children to repeat

2. Stick the alphabet cards above and the words of leg, jet, zebza,van,nine on the board.
- Read aloud the sounds and the words that contain these sounds. And ask student to repeat. 
- Play the CD and ask students to listen.
- Play the CD again and pause with each sound and have students point to the correct letter on the board.

- Point to the correct letter on the wall and the board.

 And pronounce the sounds of the letters a and e in the words that and yes respectively.

-Tell Ps that they are going to practise saying the letters,words and sentences in the book again.
-Write the phonics letters ‘a, e’ on the board and say them a few times.
-Do choral repetition of the words and sentences. .
- Turn on the tape and ask Ss to listen and repeat.

- Call other Ss till all pairs are taken out
- Give them some gifts for each pair called out

5, 4, 3, 2, 1 – Let’s have fun! Let’s explore the USA.
- Praise the class by a big clap hands.

1. Pre-teach vocabulary: cowboy, hamburger.
- Ask the class how they know about USA, allow them to use L1. 
- Show a picture of a cowboy and have Ss to repeat cowboy. Ask Ss if they have ever seen a cowboy (even on TV or book) then tell them that The USA is famous for cowboy.
- Show a picture of a hamburger and ask: Do you know hamburger? Do you like it? Then have Ss to repeat hamburger and tell them that The USA is famous for hamburger, too.

- Congratulate the children to complete Unit 1. Explain the difference between excellent, good, and OK. Throw arms up in the air for excellent, thumbs-up for good and shrug shoulders for OK. Ask them to check a box about Unit 1.
- Remind them that next class we are going to review vocabulary,chant,song of unit 1 so try to review at home.
-Do exercises of unit 1in workbbook.
