I. Overview:
1. OBJECTIVES: 
-By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to pronounce correctly the sounds of the letters or and those of the letters ol and to listen and number the pictures.
2. LANGUAGE FOCUS:

- Student Book : Tieng Anh 5, Unit16, Page 49, 50.
- Audio and visual aids: Recordings, flashcards.

I. Warm up: 
- Read the dialogues on page 49 and clap at the focused words.
II. New lesson:
3. Group and say aloud.
- Have pupils to open their book on page 49. Get Ss to read the instruction, the chart and the word box .Check if Ss understand the activities and the meaning of the focus words. Recall the meaning of the words and pre-teach: told, fold.Get Ss to repeat each word a few times. Do the first example with the class. 
- Set the time and let Ss do the task independently( in five minutes).
- Let pupils check their answers in pairs.
- Call on some pupils to report answers and the others give comments.
Answer: 
-Stormy: popcorn, storm, worn, story.

- Have the whole class read in chorus all the words in each column to reinforce their pronunciation.
4. Listen and number:
- Get Ss to open their books on page 50 and observe the pictures. Tell them the purpose of listening .Elicit pupils’ comments on the details of the pictures.
- Play the recording twice: once for Ss to listen all the way through and once for them to do the task. Pause after each part to give Ss sufficient time to select and write the numbers.
- Replay the recording for Ss to check their answers.
- Get Ss to check their answers in pairs. Call on a few Ss to report their answers to the class. If there is disagreement on any answer, play the related part of the recording again.

- Ss play the game in pairs to take turns to display the cards; then they ask and answer questions about the weather.

I. Warm-up: 
-Ss display their word cards for the game The Weather Sentences. Then they use them to ask and answer questions about the weather.
II. New lesson:
1. Look listen and repeat.
- Have pupils to open their books on page 51 and look at the pictures. Set the context: Mai and Akio are talking about the different weather in their countries.Ask Ss to observe the pictures and elicit their comments on the seasons. Read the lines and check pupils’comprehension.
- Play the recording for pupils to listen all the way through.
- Play the recording twice again for pupils to repeat sentence by sentence.
- Divide the class into two groups to take turns to say the sentences in each picture. 
- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat to reinforce their pronunciation.
- Feed back.
2. Point, ask and answer.
- Ask Ss to read the example and elicit their prompts to complete the speech bubbles.
- Write the questions and the answer on the board and get Ss to repeat them a few times.
+ What’s summer like in your country? – - It’s often hot. There is much rain.
- Get Ss to get the information from the chart. Teach the word: spring, summer, autumn, winter, warm, rain, wind. Check their reading comprehension. 
- Model the task with the whole class, using the examples. Repeat the step a few times. Call some open pairs to repeat the step with all the pictures.
- Have pupils practise in pairs take turns to ask and answer questions about the weather and seasons.
- Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation and offer help when necessary.
- Feedback.
- Call on some pairs to perform the task in front of the class using real things or pictures. Praise if the pair has a good performance of pronunciation or language usage.
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation.

Teach vocabulary: major, province, dry.Write the key words on the board and get Ss to repeat a few times.
- Read the passage, pausing at times to check pupils’comprehension.
- Have Ss work individually in five minutes read and do Task a. They are to read and get the missing information and complete the chart. Move around to monitor the activity.
- Have Ss check their answer in pairs.

Tell them the writing purpose: You are going to complete the writing frame with the information of their local weather weather and seasons, relying their writing on the guiding questions. Check pupils’ comprehension of the texts. 
- Ss work independently(in 5 minutes). 
 Remind SS to draft their writing before copying on to their note book.
- Go around the class room to monitor the activity. 
- Call out some Ss to read their writing to the class. Get Ss to display their work
-Check up and praise Ss if they do well.

Before listening:
- Have pupils to open their books on page 54. Focus their attention on the title of the unit, the pictures and the texts. Point to each picture and elicit students’ comments on the pictures.Then say: Tony is meeting Nam at school after Tet. You are going to listen to their dialogues about the trips to thier hometown. Teach the new vocabulary: hometown, province, coach, far. Write the new words on the board and get Ss to say the words a few times. Read each line in the pictures, pausing at times to check pupils’ comprehension. Make sure that Ss can understand the situation and the language in each picture.
While listening:
- Play the recording for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books.
- Play the recording twice again for pupils to repeat the lines .
- Have pupils read the lines in groups to take turn to say the lines from Tony and Nam.
- Have some groups repeat at front of the class, other pupils give comments.
- Feedback.
After listening:
- Let pupils listen and repeat once again.
