I. Pre – reading:
Activity 1:

- Ss work in pairs to answer the questions, using their geography knowledge
Activity 2:
- T asks Ss to work in pairs to underline the word and give the meaning of the word.
- T gives an example.

OBJECTIVES: - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read the texts about Ha Long Bay and Hue to understand the details; talk about and give travel advice. + Vocabulary: essential, famous, imperial, attraction, cuisine. + Grammar: - Skills: Develop and practice reading and speaking skills. - Political thought and moral sense: educate students know the value of natural wonders, they should do best things to protect them and they will be interested in learning English more. B. TEACHING AIDS: - Textbook , teacher’s book , lesson plan , board , chalks, pictures and posters. C . METHODS: - Chatting, rub out and remember, pre-questions, comprehension questions, T/F statements, discussion, role - play. D . CONTENTS: I . Revision / Warmer: Draw this network on the board Beauty spots in Vietnam Give Ss one minute to think about the answers, using their geography knowledge Divide the class into 2 groups Call on the Ss from two groups to go to the board and write down their answers as quick as possible Check and give feedback Lead in the lesson: Today, we will visit two famous places in Vietnam Time Steps Work arrangement 10’ I. Guess its meanings and copy 16’ 8’ 8’ II. While – reading: * Activity 1: T/ F statements. - T shows the sentences then runs through. 1. In Ha Long Bay, some of the islands look like people or animal. 2. Boat rides around the bay are not much fun. 3. Ha Long Bay is the number one natural wonder in Viet nam. 4. The Imperial City is an attraction in Da Nang. 5. Many people know of the Perfume River. - T lets students give predictions basing on their knowledge (geography, culture, citizen education) T gives the instructions: Read again the passage and tick T / F for each sentence. - T models the first one. - T checks Ss’ understanding. - Ss do individually then they compare with their partners. - T gets Ss’ answers then corrects. + Answer key: 1. T, 2. F, 3. T, 4. F, 5. T * Activity 4:Comprehension questions - T shows the questions then runs through. 1. Where is Ha Long Bay? 2. What must you do in the Bay? 3. Which part of a trip to Hue is more important - a visit to the Imperial City, or a trip on the river? 4. Why does the writer say ‘the food in Hue is really good’? - T gives the instructions: Read again the text then answer the questions. - T checks Ss’ understanding. - Ss answer individually in about 3 minutes then they compare with their partners. - T gets Ss’ answer then corrects. + Answer key: 1. Ha Long Bay is in Quang Ninh province. 2. You must take a boat ride. 3. A visit to the Imperial City is more important. 4. Because people travel there just for food. Pair work Group work 11’ III. speaking: * Discussion - T asks Ss to choose one place, talk about it: positions, tourism potentials... , discuss about which things they find interesting / uninteresting about them and give their ideas about how to protect these places and make them more beautiful. - Ss work in groups of four or five. - T asks one representaive in each group to report and make a presentatation Pair work 1’ IV.
