+ Vocabulary: the items related to the school

+ Grammar note: The present simple and the present continuous tense.

- Skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

- Student’s attitude: hard, concentrated and active.

2. Competency can be formed and developed for students:

- Self – learning capability

- Communicative competence

II. Preparation:

- Teacher: text book, extra board, cassette tape and real objects.

- Students: textbook, notebook, workbook.

1. Warm up (5’)

T: Ask Ss questions about the picture.

+ What is Phong doing?

+ Who are Vy and Phong?

+ Why is it a special day?

Ss: Guess what the picture might show or what the conversation might be about and answer

 - Chatting: What aspects of learning English do you find the most difficult?
2. Activities (40’)
 A- T. asks sts some questions about England.
- What do you know about England?
T. gives sts something about England and English.
* English is an international language.
Sts work in groups to talk about England in Vietnamese.
B- Introduce the English book. Student book and Workbook
- How can you learn English well.
- Listening
- It located in North-west coast of Europe with very mild weather not too hot but not too cold.
- It consists of four parts: England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
- It’s official name is the UK
- Each part has its own flag of UK.
-There are many interesting things of England and you’ll gradually know about them in the progress of learning English.
English is used all over the world in every aspect of life.
It’s the international language of every fields: communication, trade, economic, cooperation......
It consists of 12 units

Lesson 1: Getting Started
I. Objectives:

Activity 1: Help Ss to understand the content of the lesson
-Ask Ss to read the dialogue again and decide they are true or false.
- Allow Ss to share answers before discussing as a class.
- Tell Ss to refer back to the conversation to find the expressions.
- Practice saying them together.
- Ask Ss to role-plays the short conversations in pairs before creating short role-plays.
- Ask Ss to extend the conversations.
Listen and read
Are these sentences true or false? Key:

Find these expressions in the conversation. Check what they mean Key:
Used to express surprise (negative). 
 ‘You’ll find out.’
Used to invite sb in.
Used to say ‘yes’ / ‘alright’.
c. Create short role-plays with the expressions. Then practice them.
Activity 2: Help Ss to train listening & reading skills and do exercises
- Play the recording.
- Let Ss read the poem in the right intonation and rhythm and check their understanding of the poem.
- Ask Ss to write a poem about their partner, then read them poem aloud.
Listen and read the poem.
Example:
Khanh is going to back to school today. His friends are going back to school, too. His new school year starts today.
He’s got a new bike.
His friends are on their way.
- Ask Ss to match the words with the school things.
- Play the recording.
- Let Ss to practice saying the names of school things.
Allow Ss to check their answer in groups.
3. Match the words with the school things. Then listen and repeat.

- Tell Ss to look around the class. Ask what they see around them/ what they have.

- Let Ss to practice the words, and make up the sentences with the words it there is time. Write the items related to school in the book.

Lesson 2: A Closer Look 1
I. Objectives:
1. Knowledge, skills, attitude:
- Knowledge: By the end of this lesson, students can pronounce correctly the sounds
/∂ʊ / and /ʌ / in isolation and in context.
+ Vocabulary: the subjects in the school
+ Grammar note: The present simple
+ The combinations: to study, to have, to do, to play + Noun
- Skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
- Student’s attitude: hard, concentrated and active.
2. Competency can be formed and developed for students:
- Self – learning capability
- Communicative competence
II. Preparation:
1. Teacher: text book, extra board, cassette tape and real objects.
2. Students: textbook, notebook, workbook.
III. Student’s activities organization
Class organization: greeting and taking attendance.

- Play the recording.
Vocabulary

- Play it again and pause for Ss to repeat each word. - Correct their pronunciation.
- Ask Ss to put the words in 1 into groups.
- Explain to Ss which words go with each verb.
2. Work in pairs. Put the words in 1 into groups.

 have school lunch, lessons Physics, English,
 study	history, vocabulary, science.
- Ask Ss to write on the board, then check their answers.
3. Put one of these words in each blank.

- Ask Ss to write sentences about themselves in their notebooks, using the combinations above.
4. Write sentences about yourself using the combinations above.
Example:
I/We have English lessons on Tuesday and Thursday.
- Activity 2: Help Ss to pronounce fluently and exactly
- Ask Ss to practice the sounds /∂ʊ/ and
/ʌ/ Play the recording and ask Ss to listen and repeat.
