 Lesson 1 : 4 - 6

A. Aim:

- By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to further practice:

 + use the words and phrases related to the topic Asking for and giving

 directions.

 + ask and answer questions about directions

* Skills:

- Develop Ss speaking and listening skills

* Language focus:

The theatre is opposite the stadium

* Teaching aids:

 Teacher’s: computer (overhead)

B. Procedure:

I. Warm up:

 “Pass the ball” game

Where’s the ________? It’s .

II. New lesson:

1. Listen and tick:

- Have sts to look at the table given

- Elicit the content of the table

- Give instruction

- Play the recording twice for pupils listen and tick the positions of places

- Ask sts to compare the answers with the partner.

- Play the recording again for sts to check their answers.

- Announce the answers.

- Ask some questions to ensure sts’ comprehension of the listening text.

*Key: The museum: next to the stadium

 The supermarket: go along the streetand turn left

 The bus stop: opposite the pharmacy

 The post office: Between the supermarket and the cinema

2. Look, read and complete. Use one of the words/phrases twice:

- Have sts look at the maps, ask some questions about places

- Tell sts that they are going to complete the passage with the 4 words and phrases given.

- Give sts few seconds to read the sentences in silence.

- Check comprehension and give feedback.

- Give sts time to do the task and go around and offer help if necessary

- Get sts to work in pairs.

- Get sts to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.

- Divide the class into two groups and get them to read aloud the dialogue

- Have sts read aloud the sentences

 Lesson 1 (1 - 3)
A. Aim:
- By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 
	+ use the words and phrases related to the topic Asking for and giving directions.
	+ ask and answer questions about directions
* Skills: 
- Develop Ss speaking and listening skills
* Language focus:
- Sentence Patterns: - Excuse me, Where’s the ..?
	 + It’s ..
 - Vocabulary: pharmacy, theater, museum, next to, opposite, on the corner 
* Teaching aids:
	computer (overhead)
B. Procedure:
I. Warm up:	Netwwork
	factory	supermarket
Places
 school	cinema
	zoo
II. New lesson:	park
1. Look, listen and repeat:
- Have pupils look at the pictures
- Elicit the answer to the questions:
 Who’s she?
 Where are they ? – They’re reading a story
-Tell them that they are going to hear the dialogue between them about asking direction.
- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. 
- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. 
- Some Ss role play and the others comment.
- Ask Ss to role play
- Ask Ss to role play before the class.
- Explain the words: theater, museum, between, on the corner, toilet
- Elicit the model sentences:	
	Where’s the park?
	Go straight ahead,> It’s at the end of the street.
2. Point and say:
- Tell sts that they are going to practice asking and giving directions
- Have them look at the pictures and placesgiven
- Point at picture a and ask sts to give the direction
- Get them to practice in pairs to ask and answer 
- Run through the phrases
- Monitor the activity and help sts if they need
- Invite some pairs to ask and answer in pairs
- Give feedback
3. Let’s talk:
- Tell class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about directions.
- Get sts to work in pairs to ask and answer
- Monitor and help sts
- Call some pairs act out their work
- Give feedback
III. Reinforcement:
- Have sts retell the content of the lesson.

- Call some groups sing aloud and do actions

 Lesson 2 : 1 - 3
A. Aim:
- By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 
	+ ask and answer questions about directions, means of transport
* Skills: 
- Develop Ss speaking and listening skills
* Language focus:
- Sentence Patterns: - How can I get to ?
	 + You can 
- Vocabulary: boat, coach
* Teaching aids:
cards, picture, cassette/ computer (overhead)
B. Procedure:
I. Warm up:
Network

Means of transport

II. New lesson:
1. Look, listen and repeat:
- Set the scene:
- Elicit the context of the picture
- Have sts look at the pictures and say the name mean of transport
- Check comprehension by pointing at each picture to elicit the content for each picture
- Play CD for sts listen and follow in their books
- Play again – sts repeat
- Some Ss role play and the others comment.
- Ask Ss to role play
- Ask Ss to role play before the class.
=> Elicit the model sentences:
	 - How can I get to ?
	 + You can 
2. Point and say:
- Have pupils look at pictures with names of means of transports
- Run through and explain the key words: 
	take a boat/ coach/ go by plane
- Model (a)
	 - How can I get to the post office?
	 + You can walk for five minutes. 
- Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times.
- Ask sts work in pairs to practice asking and answering about means of transport base on the model.
- Call some pairs say aloud in front of the class.
- Check sts’ mistake when necessary.
- Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language.
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation.
3. Let’s talk.
- Have stst read aloud the questions given with two parts of places (near -places around where we live and far – other cities/ countries) 
- Tell the class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about means of transport to go somewhere
- Run through.
- Give instruction. 
- Model:
	A: How can I get to the market?
	B: You can go by motorbike for 5 mins.
	A: How can I get to Ha Noi?
	B: You can take a coach.
- Give sts 5 mins for sts practice 
- Get sts to work in groups of three to interact.
- Call a few pairs to practise in front of the class.
- Check ss’ pronunciation.

I. Warm up:	Play the game “Turning”
	- T controls 3 teams do the following actions:
	Go straight ahead/ stop/ turn right/ turn left 	
 - Which team do rightly will win 
II. New lesson:	
1. Listen and write one words in the box:
- Have sts to look at the pictures with means of transport given
- Elicit the names of means of transport and students in the table 
- Give instruction.
- Play the recording twice for pupils listen and write the names of means of transport into the boxes 
- Ask sts to compare the answers with the partner.	
- Play the recording again for sts to check their answers. 
- Announce the answers.
- Ask some questions to ensure sts’ comprehension of the listening text.
*Key: 1. boat 2. taxi 	3. coach	4. plane	
2. Read and complete:
- Tell sts that they are going to complete the 2 dialogues with the 6 words and given.
- Give sts few seconds to read the dialogues in silence.
- Check comprehension and give feedback.
- Give sts time to do the task and go around and offer help if necessary
- Get sts to work in pairs.
- Get sts to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.
- Divide the class into two groups and get them to read aloud the dialogue

3. Let’s play: Giving directions
- Explain how the game is played
