Lesson 1 (4 - 6)
A. Aim:
- By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to further practice:
+ use the words and phrases related to the topic common health
+ ask and answer questions about common health.

B. Procedure:
I. Warm up:
Miming
What’s the matter with you? – I have .
II. New lesson:
1. Listen and tick
- Have sts to look at the table with 4 names and 4 common health problems
- Elicit the names and the common health problems
- Give instruction.
- Play the recording twice for pupils listen and tick the correct names with words
- Ask sts to compare the answers with the partner.
- Play the recording again for sts to check their answers.
- Announce the answers.
- Ask some questions to ensure sts’ comprehension of the listening text.
*Key: 1. Nam: toothache 2. Peter: stomachache
3. Linda: headache 4. Tony: sore throat
2. Read and complete:
- Tell sts that they are going to read the 5 sentences and fill the gaps with the 5 words given.
- Give sts few seconds to read the sentences in silence.
- Check comprehension and give feedback.
- Give sts time to do the task and go around and offer help if necessary
- Get sts to work in pairs.
- Get sts to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.

- Call 4 pairs read aloud the sentences
3. Let’s sing:
- Show the song “What’s the matter with you?”
- Have sts look at the pictures and give some ideas ;

- Have sts repeat each line of the lyrics a few times.
- Have sts sing along.
- Have sts practice singing and acting in groups
- Call some groups sing aloud and do actions

Tuesday, January 18th , 2021 Week :19 Period :71 Unit 11: What’s the matter with you? Lesson 1 (1 - 3) A. Aim: - By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: + use the words and phrases related to the topic Common health problems. + ask and answer questions about common health. * Skills: - Develop Ss speaking and listening skills * Language focus: - Sentence Patterns: - What’s the matter with you? + I have . - Vocabulary: * Teaching aids: Teacher’s: computer (overhead) B. Procedure: I. Warm up: Body building II. New lesson: 1. Look, listen and repeat: • Whole class: Have pupils look at the dialogue on the screen - Ask pupils the names of the characters and what they are doing -Tell them that they are going to hear Tony and his mum are talking about what’s the matter with him. - Explain the meaning of the language practised. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. 2. Point and say: - Play the CD twice for sts listen and repeat - Explain the pattern: What’s the matter with you? Aim: - By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: + give and respond to advice on common health problems. * Skills: - Develop Ss speaking and listening skills * Language focus: - Sentence Patterns: - You should/ shouldn’t + Yes, I will/ Ok, I won’t - Vocabulary: take a rest, carry heavy things, sweets, dentist Teaching aids: Computer + overhead B. Procedure: I. Warm up: Sing the song: “What’s the matter with you?” II. New lesson: 1. Look, listen and repeat: - Set the scene: - Elicit the context of the picture - Have sts look at the pictures and guess what’s the matter with Nam - Play CD for sts listen and follow in their books - Play again – sts repeat - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. => Elicit the model sentences: A: You should go to the doctor. B: Ok, I will. 2. Point and say: - Have pupils look at pictures with things thay should do when they have health problems - Run through the phrase words - Use flashcards to teach the new words: take a rest, carry heavy thing, dentist - Model (a) A: You should go to the dentist B: Ok, I will.Thanks. - Give instruction - Point to each picture and ask what they should/ shouldn’t do - Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Ask sts work in pairs. - Call some pairs practice in front of the class. - Check sts’ mistake when necessary. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. 3.
