 Unit 6: How many lessons do you have today?

 Lesson 2: (4-6)

A. Aim: - By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to practice:

 ask and answer questions about how often someone has a subject.

* Skills: - Develop Ss speaking and listening skills

* Language focus:

- Sentence Patterns: - How often do you have ?

 + I have it . .

- Vocabulary:

* Teaching aids: Subjects books

B. Procedure:

I. Warm up: Slap the board (names of subjects with times in a week)

II. New lesson:

1. Listen and circle a or b:

- Have pupils read the sentences and phrases given

- Get sts say aloud

- Tell the pupils that they are going to listen to 4 dialogues and circle the words given to complete the sentences about how many and how often they have lessons.

- Play the recording twice for pupils listen and circle the correct words.

- Compare the answers with the partners.

- Play the recording again pupils check their answers.

- T gets the answer:

- Have pupils act out the dialogues in pairs or groups for correction.

- Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text.

Answer: 1- a ; 2 - a ; 3 – b ; 4 - a

2. Write about you:

- Have pupils look at 5 questions given

- Ask pupils what they do this part

- Tell them that they are going to write the answer base on the questions related to subjects

- Model: ask and answer

- Call on a pupil to write on the board and other pupils write into their books in individuals.

- Have pupils discuss their answers in pairs for correction.

- Have pupils comment the answer on the board.

- Call some pupils read aloud their work in front of the class.

- Have the class chorally read each line.

 * Suggested answer:

 1. I have foour: Maths, Vietnamese, English and Art.

 2. My favourite lesson is Music.

 3. I have it once a week

 4. Yes, I do.Because it’s interesting.

 Unit 6: How many lessons do you have today?
 Lesson 1 (4 - 6)
A. Aim:
- By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to further practice: 
	+ use the words and phrases related to the topics school lessons
	+ ask and answer questions about school lessons.
* Skills: - Develop Ss speaking and listening skills
* Language focus:
- Sentence Patterns: - How many lessons do you have today? 
 + I have . 
- Vocabulary: school subjects
* Teaching aids: Teacher’s: cards, cassette, computer (overhead)
B. Procedure:
I. Warm up: Play “Pass the ball” game
	How many lessons do you have today?
II. New lesson:
1. Listen and tick:
- Have sts to look at subjects and the table with 3 names: Long, Minh, Lan given
- Give instruction
- Play the recording twice for pupils listen and tick into the table with right names 
- Ask sts to compare the answers with the partner.	
- Play the recording again for sts to check their answers. 
- Announce the answers.
- Ask some questions to ensure sts’ comprehension of the listening text.
*Key: 1.Long: Math, IT and science
	 2. Minh: Science, Music, Art and IT
	3. Vietnamese, Maths, English, IT and PE.	
2. Read and complete:
- Tell sts that they are going to complete the passage with the 5 words given.
- Give sts few seconds to read the text in silence.
- Check comprehension and give feedback.
- Give sts time to do the task and go around and offer help if necessary
- Get sts to work in pairs.
- Get sts to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.
- Divide the class into two groups and get them to read aloud the passage
Key: 1. Tuesday 2. lessons 3. Wednesday 4. four	5. Art
3. Let’s sing:
- Show the song “How many lessons do you have today?”
- Have sts look at the pictures and give some ideas 
- Read the lyrics.
- Check comprehension
- Play the recording the song all the way through.
- Have sts repeat each line of the lyrics a few times.
- Have sts sing along.
- Have sts practice singing and acting in groups 
- Call some groups sing aloud and do actions
III. Reinforcement:
- retell how many lessons you have today
- Give feedback.

 Unit 6: How many lessons do you have today?
 Lesson 2 (1 - 3)
A. Aim:
- By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 
	+ ask and answer questions about how often someone has a subject.
* Skills: - Develop Ss speaking and listening skills
* Language focus:
- Sentence Patterns: - How often do you have ? 
 + I have it .. ..
- Vocabulary: 
* Teaching aids: cards, picture, cassette/ computer (overhead)
B. Procedure:
I. Warm up: Review
	How often do you watch TV?
	I watch TV everyday/ once a week
	 twice a month
II. New lesson:
1. Look, listen and repeat:
- Set the scene:
- Elicit the context of the picture
- Have sts look at the pictures and guess what the story is about
- Check comprehension by pointing at each picture to elicit the content for each picture
- Play CD for sts listen and follow in their books
- Play again – sts repeat
- Some Ss role play and the others comment.
- Ask Ss to role play
- Ask Ss to role play before the class.
=> Elicit the modal sentences:
	Nam: How often do you have English?
	Akiko: I have it four times.
3. Point and say:
- Have pupils look at pictures with books and times under them 
- Run through the names of subjects and times
- Model (a) A: How often do you have Music?
	B: I have it once a week..
- Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times.
- Repeat the procedure with the second picture.
- Ask sts work in pairs to practice asking and answering base on the model.
- Call some pairs say aloud in front of the class.
- Check sts’ mistake when necessary.
- Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language.
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation.
3. Let’s talk.
- Have stst read aloud 2 questions given
- Tell the class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about how many and how often they have lessons
- Run through.
- Give instruction. 
- Model: A: How many lessons do you have today?
	 B: I have four: Maths, English, Vietnamese and Art.
	 A: How often do you have English?
	 B: I have it four times a week.
- Give sts 3 mins for sts practice (about their timetable)
- Get sts to work in groups of three to interact.
- Call a few pairs to practise in front of the class.
- Check ss’ pronunciation.
III. Reinforcement : Ask sts to talk aloud their task

 Unit 6: How many lessons do you have today?
 Lesson 3 (1 - 3)
A. Aim:
- By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 
	+ say questions and answers with the correct sentence stress.
* Skills: - Develop Ss speaking and listening skills
* Language focus:
* Teaching aids: Pictures, poster, cassette (overhead, computer)
B. Procedure:
I. Warm up: Review words stresses
	river, mountain, vity, village
	usually, always, often, never, sometimes
	underground, motorbike, holiday, family
II. New lesson:
1. Listen and repeat:
- Have sts to look at the overhead’s screen, draw their attention to the sentences 
- Play CD for sts listen
- Have sts repeat the focused on the sentence stress a few times.
- Play the recording twice and ask Ss to repeat
- Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary/ correct typical pronunciation errors.
- Call on someone to read aloud.
- give feedback
2. Listen and circle a or b. Then say the sentences:
- Have pupils read the words given
- Tell sts that they are going to listen and circle a or b to complete the sentences
- Play Cd – sts listen and circle
- Get sts’ answer
- Give feedback
 * Key: 1. a, b 2. b, a
- Get sts say aloud
- Tell the pupils that they are going to read and mark word stress for the sentences
- Have sts do the task individually. 
- Compare the answers with the partners.	
- Gets the answer:
3. Let’s chant
- Show the chant “How often do you have?”
- Have sts run through the sentences
- Ask sts read aloud 
- Check comprehension (What lessons? How many lessons? How often?)
- Play the tape a few times.
- Ask sts to read aloud each line in the chant and clap their hands.
- Ask them to listen again and repeat.
- Have sts practice the chant in groups.
- Call each group perform.
- Correct and comment
- Play the tape once to reinforce their pronunciation.
 III. Reinforcement 
- In this lesson, sts have learned how to make stress the words with 2 syllables
- Practice chanting.
