B. Language focus: - Phonics: de’licious, e’normous, No’vember, De’cember. C. Resources: handmade puppets, robot-teacher, photographs of greeting. D. Procedure: I. Warm up: - Review the two - sylable words with the stress on the second syllable: ‘crocodile, ‘elephant, ‘wonderful, ‘beautiful. - Comment. - Lead in the new lesson. II. New lesson. 1. Listen and repeat - Have sts to concerntrate on the words and their stresses: ‘de’licious, e’normous, No’vember, De’cember. (Tell the meanings of them for sts to take notes) - Pronounce the focused sounds a few times as a model. - Play the recording twice for sts to listen and repeat. - Ask sts to read the sentences, while the rest of the class claps at the stressed syllables of the target words to reinforce their pronunciation. - Let sts listen to the CD again then introduce about the stressed syllables. - Expansion with some examples: re’vision, pro’fession, pro’motion, so’lution. 2. Warm up: - Let sts sing the song that they like. - Comment. - Lead in the new lesson. II. Review Phonics: Put the piece of paper with the phonics written on the board and play the recording (two times). Ask sts to listen and repeat the words in chorus. Draw sts’ attention to the sounds that are difficult to pronounce Have sts to practice reading the words aloud in pairs. Have some pairs demonstrate. Correct their pronunciation when necessary. - Call on some pairs to demonstrate at the front of the class. Have the rest of the class observe and give comment Vocabulary: - Put the vocabulary sheet of paper on the board. - Ask sts to recall the meaning of the words by reading aloud or playing a game (Name cards/ Stand up when you hear/ Physical Line- up) using flashcards. - Have sts say the words aloud again. Encourage them to group words. - Get sts male sentences with some of the words they have learnt. Structures: - Put the sheet of paper which contains the sentences patterns on the board. - Ask sts to repeat the patterns aloud as they follow the text on the board. - Ask sts to make short dialogues with the sentence patterns - Have some pairs act out their dialogues at the front of the class. Resources: Books, teachers’ book, notebooks, cards and cassette. D. Procedure: I. Warm up. - Review the model sentences from unit 6 to unit 10. - Lead in the new lesson. II. New lesson 1. Read and listen to the story - Set the scene. - Play the tape for sts to listen and read. - Help sts get the idea of the story, simply let them read and listen to this episodes, the initial task will be more challenging. 2. Complete the conversation - Run through. - Ask sts to read the story in the book and fill the suitable words to complete the dialogue. - Ask sts to work in pairs to do the exercise then practice in pairs in front of the whole class. The rest listen to and give the remark. - Correct the pronunciation. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the story Key: 1. day 2.
