A. Object: By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to:
- Use the words and phrases related to the topic Festivals.
- Ask and answer questions about what people do at a festival.
B. Language focus:
- Vocabulary: make bah chung, decorate, firework displays, get lucky money.
- Sentence patterns: What do you do at Tet?

D. Procedure:
I .Warm-up :
- Check the old lesson.
- Lead in the new lesson.
II. New lesson:
1. Look, listen and repeat
- Ask sts to look at the pictures then run through and set the scene.
- Give instruction.
- Open the cassette all the way through.
- Ask sts to listen again and repeat the dialogue.
- Divide the class into 2 groups and ask them to play a role.
- Have sts to do further practice in pairs.
- Give feedback.
- Provide some new words for sts to make a sense of the dialogue: make, decorate, wear nice clothes,lucky money.
- Elicit the sentence pattern from sts: What do you do at Tet?
I make Banh Chung.
- Give examples.
2. Practice
- Introduce some new words: firework displays.
- Ask sts to turn to part 2 and look at the pictures.
- Run through then give instruction.
- Make model the pattern: T – St; St – T; S1 – S2.
- Let sts practise in pairs with the given information, then practise freely themselves
- Move around to offer help.
- Call on some pairs to report.
- Comment.

Look, listen and repeat. - Run through and set the sense. - Give instruction. - Play the recording all the way through. - Replay the recording for sts listen and repeat. - Divide class into 2 groups to read the dialogue and ask them to play roles. - Ask sts to do further practice in pairs. - Check to make sure that sts can repeat and understand the dialogues. 2. Point and say - Ask sts to look at the pictures a, b, c and d. - Run through some words: New year, Children’s day, Teacher’s day, Christmas. - Use handmade puppets to teach: When is Children’s Day? It’s on the first of June. - Model the structure: T-sts; sts-T; S1-S2 - Have sts to look at the pictures and do the task in pairs then practise freely. - Move around to offer help. - Call on some pairs to perform the task. Procedure: I .Warm-up : Game: Slap the board (using some newwords from the last lesson.) - Lead in the new lesson. II. New lesson 1. Listen and circle. - Let sts guess what are they going to do. - Give instruction. - Ask them to elicit the pictures. - Play the recording all the way through for sts to listen. - Replay for sts to listen and tick. - Play once more times for sts to check their answers. - Ask sts to compare with their partners. - Call on some sts to report. - Give feedback. Reinforcement: Game: Physical line – up - Put sts in groups. - Write sentences about different festivals on large piece of paper. Then, cut each into 2 halves and put all the pieces into a box.The number of pieces in the box should be the same as the number of sts in the group. - Ask sts to each draw a piece of paper from the box. Each st should find the person with the other half of their sentence and together read the sentence aloud. - Continue the game with another groups of sts. IV. Comment
