Unit 11: What time is it?

Lesson 2: Part 1, 2, 3

A. Object: By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to:

- Use the words and phrases related to the topic Daily routines.

- Ask and answer questions about daily routines.

B. Language focus:

D. Procedure:

I. Warm up:

- Ask sts sing the song: What time is it?

- Give feedback.

- Lead in the new lesson.

II. New lesson.

1. Look, listen and repeat

- Set the scene.

- Give instruction.

- Play the recording all the way through.

- Replay the recording for sts listen and repeat.

- Divide class into 2 groups and ask them to play roles.

- Ask sts to do further practice in pairs.

- Check to make sure that sts can repeat and understand the dialogues.

2. Practice.

- Teach some new words:

+ Get up: thức dậy

+ Have breakfast: ăn sáng

+ Have dinner: ăn tối

+ Go to bed: đi ngủ

- Set the scene for sts to elicit the pattern:

What time do you .?

- Ask sts to work in pairs based on the pictures on the book then practise freely.

- Move around to offer help.

- Call on some pairs to perform the task.

III. Reinforcement :

- Ask sts to play a role to greet and say goodbye

A. Object: By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to:
- Use the words and phrases related to the topic Daily routines.
- Ask and answer questions about time.

C. Resources: Book, CD-player.
D. Procedures:
I .Warm-up :
* Game: Hang – man 	T I M E
- Give feedback.
- Lead in the new lesson.
II. New lesson
1. Look, listen and repeat.
- Run through and set the sense.
- Give instruction.
- Play the recording all the way through.
- Replay the recording for sts listen and repeat.
- Divide class into 2 groups to read the dialogue and ask them to play roles.
- Ask sts to do further practice in pairs.
- Check to make sure that sts can repeat and understand the dialogues( provide some words: get up, breakfast )
 2. Point and say
- Ask sts to look at the pictures a, b, c and d.
- Run through some words: swimming, cooking, colecting stamps, playing chess.
- Use handmade puppets to teach: What time is it?
	It’s + time. 
- Model the structure: T-sts; sts-T; S1-S2 
- Have sts to look at the pictures and do the task in pairs then practise freely.
- Move around to offer help.
- Call on some pairs to perform the task.
III. Reinforcement:
- Call sts to tell about their hobbies with their friends.
- Comment.

- Develop listening and writing skill.
B. Language focus:
- Sentence pattern: What time is it?
	It’s + time
C. Resources: Book, CD-player.
D. Procedures:
I .Warm-up.
* Game: Bingo.
(using the five time in activity 2 on page 6)
- Give feedback.
- Lead in the new lesson.
II. New lesson.
1. Listen and tick:
- Run through and set the scene.
- Ask sts to look at the pictures and guess what are they saying.
- Give instruction.
- Play the recording for sts to listen through.
- Play the recording again for sts to listen and tick the correct pictures.
- Replay for sts to check their answers.
- Ask sts to trade the answer.
- Call on some sts to report.
- Give feedback. 
*Keys: 1. B 2. B 3. A 
2. Look and write.
- Have sts look at the picures on page 7.
- Ask sts what they have to do in this task.
- Ask them to discuss and complete the blanks.
- Call someone to write on the board.
- Check and correct mistakes.
* Key: 1. It’s ten - twenty 2. It’s ten - thirty 3. It’s eleven – fifty.
3. Let’s sing.
- Introduce the song: What time is it?.
- Read the lyrics.
- Play the recording the song all the way through.
- Have sts to repeat each line of the lyrics a few times.
- Have sts to sing along.
- Call a few sts to sing.
III. Reinforcement: 
- Ask sts to practise the song in groups.

D. Procedure:
I. Warm up:

II. New lesson.
1. Listen and draw the time.
- Ask sts to turn to page 9 and look at part 4
- Let sts describe the pictures.
- Give instruction.
- Ask sts to do the task individually.
- Move around to offer helps if necessary.
- Ask sts to exchange their answers with their partners.
- Call on some sts to report the answers.
- Give feedback and check sts to understand the text.
Key: b. 7.30 c. 8.15 d. 8.00 e. 9.00 
2. Draw and write the time.
- Tell sts that they are going to look the clocks, then draw and write the time.
- Give sts few seconds to read the text in silence.
- Check comprehension and give feedback.
- Give sts time to do the task and go around and offer help if necessary
- Get sts to work in pairs.
- Get sts to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.
- Divide the class into two groups and get them to read aloud each character’s lines respectively.

III. Reinforcement: 
- Have sts to recall what they have learnt.
