Task 3: Answering the questions

OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able use facts and opinions to talk about features of man- made places. II.TEACHING AIDS: textbook, pictures, handout. III.PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities I.WARM- UP Pictures - T prepare a handout with some statements about the wonders of the world and asks ss to give the names - T asks ss to answer in class. - T listen and corrects. II. PRE-SPEAKING T sticks the picture of the Pyramid on the BB and asks SS: What is this ? Is the pyramid high ? T writes on the BB +The Pyramid is high. +What do you think of this wonder? T writes on the board. T asks ss to look at the two sentences on the board. which sentence describes fact and which one describes opinion ? =>Task 1: Distinguishing facts and opinions - T gives Instructions: This time you have some statements about the Pyramid. Read them and work in pairs to decide if each one describes fact or opinion. T goes around to offer help. T asks some pairs to give their answers. T gives feedback. III. Task 3: Answering the questions. - T asks ss to discuss possible answers to the following questions, using the suggested questions below. 1. Who built the Great Pyramid ? 2. How long did it take to build it ? 3. Where did the builders find the stones? 4. how did they transport them? 5. How could they build the Pyramid so high ? - T goes around to offer help - T takes notes of students' mistakes for indirect correction. - T ask them to stop and gives feedback on their work IV. POST –SPEAKING: Role- play T asks ss to work in groups of four. “Supposing that one of you were one of those who contributed to build the Pyramid in the old time and tell your friends what happened with the construction of the wonder.” T goes around to offer help if need be T listens to ss and collects their mistakes for indirect correction T gives feedback V. HOMEWORK T asks ss to learn vocabulary and prepare for the next lesson. - Look at the pictures and answer the T’s question. àExpected answer 1. The great Pyramid 2. Colosseum 3. Taj mahal Listen to the T’s instruction and say out the answer in class. Expected answers The Pyramid yes I think it is great The first describes fact and the second describes opinion. - Work in groups - Take notes and do the task. Facts: 2, 3, 4, Opinions: 1, 5, 6, 7 - Work in gpairs to do the task. Examples - I think the Pyramid was built by an enormous giant. - Probably an enormous giant built the Pyramid - Work in pair to practice ask and answer the questions. - Present in class. - Give feedback. - Take notes. - Work in groups - Use task 2 to ask and answer - Listen to T’s feedback. - Take notes. - Do the task.
