- T elicits and presents new words by situation and examples , then odels and writes on the board.

+ Gigantic(adj) very great to lớn, vĩ đại (synonym)

+ Ignorant(adj) stupid ngu ngố, khờ khạo (synonym)

+ To be fed up with chán ngấy (translation)

+ To cope with to face with đối mặt (picture)

+ Jungle (n) forest rừng nhiệt đới (picture)

+ Profitably (adv) có lợi, có ích (explanation)

- T asks ss to write on the notebooks.

LESSON 3: LISTENING
I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to know about the advantages and disadvantages of reading.
II. TEACHING AIDS: textbook, pictures, handout.

I.WARM- UP Brainstorming
-T asks ss to work in pair to brainstorm all the benefits of reading books.
- T leads into the lesson
II. PRE-LISTENING 
* Pre teach vocabulary:

- T asks ss to read through the statements to understand them and underline keys words.
- T asks ss to guess the answers, and T writes on the board.
III. WHILE- LISTENING
* TASK 1: 
T/F statements
- T asks ss to listen to the passage and decide if the statements are true or false.
- T plays the tape one or two more times and pauses at the answer for them to catch the information.
- T asks ss to work in pair to compare the answers.
- T asks ss to give the answers in class, then asks them to listen again and check the answers.
TASK 2: 
LISTEN AND FILL THE MISSING WORDS.
- T asks ss to listen again and write the missing words.
- T asks ss to work in pair to share the answer together.
- T asks ss to check the answers by listening again.
- T listens and gives the feedback.
IV. POST –LISTENING 
Discussion
- T gets ss to work in groups of 4 to talk about the disadvantages of over-reading
- T goes around checking and offers help
- T calls on the groups to present their ideas and other groups to add some more ideas
- T gives the feedback
V. HOMEWORK
- T asks ss to learn vocabulary, and prepare the next lesson.
- Work in pairs.
- Brainstorm all the benefits of reading books.
