To assure that students are able to get the information of the text to do the tasks.
 II. Terminal objective of teaching: 
 By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to :
 - Use the information they have read to discuss the topic.
 - Develop such reading micro-skills as a scanning for specific ideas and guessing meaning in context.

 CELEBRATIONS
 A. Reading.
I.BEFORE YOU READ
 Discussing Tet holiday.
- Look at the picture on page 90 and discuss the three questions:
1. What time of the year is it? 
2. What are the people in the picture doing?
3. What else can you see in the picture?
 Suggested answers:
1. It is Spring and it should be Tet holiday because we can see the apricot blossom, a kumquat tree and full of ripe fruits.
2. The people in the picture may be a family. The grandmother is giving her niece and nephew lucky money. The daughter, the son and their parents may be wishing their grandparents good health and happiness.
3. In the picture we can also a five-fruit tray on the ancestral altar, a dish of fruits, a tray of candies, Mut, Banh Chung on the table.

II. WHILE YOU READ:
Read the text about Tet in Vietnam, and then do the tasks that follow.
Task 1. The following words all appear in the passage. Find the Vietnamese equivalent for each of them

 Task2: Work in pairs. Decide whether the statements are true (T) or false (F).
1. Tet is always on 20th February on the Western calendar.

Work in group:Tell each other about your last Tet holiday,focusing on the following main points.
 - How you prepared for Tet
 - How you decorated your house
 - Who you visited
 - What special foods you ate
 - What activities you enjoyed doing most during Tet
WRAPPING UP:
- T summarises the main points.
- T asks Ss to learn by heart all of the new words and do the extra exercise as homework.
- T gives some questions:
1, What is the title of the song?
2, When do people often sing it?
3, What is it about?
 - T gives several suggested answers:
For example in the last picture:
1, Ngaỳ xuân long phụng sum vầy.
2, To welcome the New Year/ It is often sung on the last days of the old year and at the beginning of the new year.
3, Feelings about the old year and new year.

-T asks Ss to scan the passage to find out in task 1.
