 - Asks : “ When does it occur?”

 “ Is it in December?”

4. Which food do we eat special on Tet? (do the same)

5. Asks Ss :

“ Which celebration do you like best?”

“What do you often do in each celebration?”

“What is the most important celebration in Vietnam?”

Introducing some celebrations in Vietnam and some English speaking countries.

Warm up (10’)
*Shows 6 pictures, one after another, while asking questions : “ Look at the pictures and tell me in which occasion these pictures appear?”

Free ( 5’)
*T introduces : Today we talk about some special days in Vietnam and other countries in the world.
*T shows pictures and introduces something about Lunar New Year and Easter. T also talks something more about Passover
* T writes on the board some words :
Lunar New Year
Sticky rice cakes ( picture)
Passover
Easter
*Explains briefly new structures .
Tet is a festival which occurs in late January.
Family members who live apart try to be together at Tet.
* T asks Ss to repeat in choral / individual
* Plays the cassette ( books closed) and tell the class which celebration occur; what they do and what special food they eat on these days.
*Plays the tape again.
*Asks Ss to read the text again and complete the word map about these celebrations. ( Group work)
* T corrects the word map
* Asks some Ss to talk before class and the teacher corrects the mistakes if possible
-Listen
Listen ( book closed)
Listen & copy down
- Ask & answer about the celebrations in the text
- Listen ( look at the book & find out events, activities, things or food in each celebrations and write them on the handouts
Complete the word map
(Group work)
Talk about the celebrations.
Consolidation (10’)
Asks 3 Ss to talk about the celebrations in the text and about some other celebrations which they know.
Homework (2’) : 	 
Read the text at home
Complete the word map on page 66 and write it down in the exercise books
Find some pictures of some other celebrations and talk about them. 
 ( Women’s Day : when . . . ; Teacher’s Day : when ; what activities. . .)
