 Lesson 1: Getting started + Listen and read
I. OBJECTIVES:
- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know some more about “ao dai”, the traditional dress of Vietnamese.
- Focus on reading and speaking skills.
II. TEACHING AIDS.

III. PROCEDURE.

- Show the picture b and ask: Where does she come from?
Why do you know she comes from VietNam?
- Divide the class into 4 groups. Ask them to look at the clothes people are wearing and take turn to decide where each person comes from.
-Ask Ss to work in pairs to discuss “Where are these people from?”.
- Call on some pairs to answer before the class.
- Give feedback.
- Look at the picture and answer.
She comes from VietNam
- Because she is wearing “aodai”

- Set the scene: “ Every nation has its own traditional dress. In VietNam, aodai is the traditional dress. Listen to the tape and answer my question: Who used to wear the aodai by traditional?
- Play the tape and ask Ss to listen and answer.
- Ask Ss to listen to the tape again and look at the book.
* Pre-teacher vocabulary. 
T: “These are patterns of ao dai”
“pattern” in Vietnamese?
- Do the same with these words:
Slit; a long silk tunic; loose pants, stripes; crosses
* Vocabulary game: Slap the board
* Grammar:
- Ask Ss to tell the form and usage of the present perfect and passive voice.
- Have Ss repeat them.
- Listen to the teacher.
- Listen to the tape and answer:
 “Both men and women”
- Listen to the tape again and look at the book.
