Let Ss work in two groups ( Exercise 2 page 38) to complete the table .

Remain Ss changes in tenses, adverbs, the first and second person pronouns ,articles of reported speech.
Remind how to change from the directed speech into reported speech in statement.
Give examples.
Lan said:” I often go to school early”
Lan said that she often went to school early.
Nam said to me : “ I will help you with your study.”
Nam told me that he would help me with my study.
Practice: (10ms)
- Set the scene.- 
- Ask Ss to report what people said at Lan’s grandmother’s party.
Give the key.
Uncle Hung said that birthday cake was delicious.
Miss Nga said she loved those roses.
Cousin Mai said she was having a wonderful time there.
Mr. Chi said he would go to Hue the following day.
Mrs. Hoa said she might have a new job.
Mr. Quang said he had to leave then.
Activity 2 Language focus 4
a.Presentation : (10ms)
- Explain how to report questions 
* We do not use the auxiliary verb when there is no question word (what, where, when...) we use “if” or “whether” to introduce a reported question.
In reported speech questions, the word order is the same as in statements.
S+ asked if / whether + S + V . . . 
S+ asked wh-word + S + V . . .
- Sets the scene. 
- Give example first .
Ex: Lan said to Nam :” Do you often walk to school?”
àLan asked Nam if Nam often walked to school.
Ex: Hoa said to us :“What are you doing?”
àHoa asked us what we were doing.
Ex: “Do you like pop music?”
à She asked me if / whether I liked pop music.
Ex: “Where do you live?”
à She asked me where I lived.
 b, Practice: (10ms)
Set the scenes.
“ This morning Nga had an interview for a summer job. When she arrived home, she told her mother about the interview”.
Ask Ss to do the exercises in individually and compare with their friends’.
-Call SS to write the finished sentences on BB.
