A. Objectives: 
* At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to read a poem about the environment for specific information.
* Contents:
+ Vocabulary: junk-yard, treasure, foam, litter, hedge, folk, nonsense.
+ Grammar: Conditional type 1.
* Skills: 
+ Read the poem about the environment.
+ Match A to B then answer the questions.
+ Know how to avoid the polluted environment.
B. Teaching aids: CD- player, sub-board.

+ Who’s absent today?
+ What’s the date today?
II/ Checking old lesson: (3’)
- (Optional)
- Introduce the topic of the lesson to Ss by asking the students list some natural disasters.
III/ New lesson: (37’)
1. Pre- reading:
- Show the picture and present the poem
(A mother and her son are having a picnic in a park. The son sees that the place is polluted. He asks his mother about the problems of the pollution. What does the mother think about the pollution?)
- Read the poem and get Ss to give out new words.
- Write them on the board and give meaning of them.
- Read and get Ss to read after 3 times.
- Call Ss to read.
- Remark then get Ss to read them after again.
- Help Ss to review the conditional sentences type 1.
(Be responsible for + V-ing: cã tr¸ch nhiÖm.)
2. While- reading:
- Read the poem again slowly and clearly then give the situations of it. 
- Call some Ss to read part to part.
- Remark
- Show the sub board. 
- Ask Ss to read the poem again and A to B.
- Call some Ss to read the answers aloud 
- Give the correct answers. 
- Ask Ss to work in pairs reading the poem more carefully and answering the questions.
- Call some pairs to practice. 
- Get others to write the full sentences on the board.
- Call Ss to remark.
- Remark then give the correct answer.
3. Post- reading: 
- Ss work in groups to discuss the answer to question 6: What could we do in our school/ house to minimize pollution?
- Explain the requests from Ss.

b) Answers:
1.If the pollution goes on , the world will end up like a second hand junk yard.
2. The mother think other folk pollute (are responsible for the pollution of) the environment but not her and her son.
3. If the boy keeps on asking such questions, his mother will take him home right away.
4. No, because he is right: if he throw the bottles that will be polluting the woods.
5. The poet wants us to learn that everyone is reponsible for keeping the environment from polluttion.
- Put garbage into the garbage dump
- Donot throw waste paper, bottles in the school yard or everywhere around the school.
* Homework:
- Learn new words by heart 
- Read and translate the poem into VNs.
- Do again: 5a + 5b.
- Prepare “Write”
