- Express which sports they play, ask and answer about sports and pastime. Reading short texts about sports and pastime. Reading short texts about sports and practicing “which ?” questions with simple present tense to talk about people’s regular exercise.

I- Objectives: 
	Competences
- Know some popular sports and pastimes in English. Further practice in present progressive and sports vocabulary to talk about what people are doing now. SS should be taught how to describe sporting activities.
- Developing: four skills.
II- Language content:
Grammar: 
Structures: “Present simple tense”
+ Which sports do you play?
-> I play soccer.
+ What’s he/she doing?
-> He/she is jogging.
III- Teaching aids:
Text book, lesson plan, cassette tapes
IV- Procedure:
Warm up:

Content
- Play game “Jumbled words”.
- Practice.
Torps = sport
Bolfatol = football
Belvalylol = volleyball
Maga = game
Sucim = music
Presentation:
- Set up the scene to introduce the activities in the pictures. Try to help them to review the tenses present simple and present progressive. Introduce new words and help them guess the activities in the lesson.
- Listen and repeat.
- Review the present progressive tense.
- Notice the new words.
- Try to guess the activities in the pictures.
1. Listen and read:
New words:
- swim (v): bơi
- badminton (n): cầu long
- skip (v): nhảy dây
- aerobic (n): thể dục nhịp điệu
- tennis (n): ten nis
- jog (v): đi bộ thể dục
- table tennis (n): bóng bàn
Structures:
- Which sports do you play?
-> I play soccer.
- What is she doing?
-> She’s playing volleyball.
Practice:
- Let them listen to the cassette and read by themselves.
- Have them practice asking and answering with their partners about what the people in the pictures are doing.
- Call some pairs and let them practice loudly before class.
- Listen to the cassette and read the sentences.
- Write them in the notebook.
- Practice with partner.
- Ask and answer the questions.
Ask and answer:
- What is he/she doing?
-> He/She is 
- What are they doing?
-> They are 
- Which sports do you play?
-> I play soccer.
- Which sports does she play?
-> She plays soccer.
Consolidation:
Ask and answer some questions.
Homework:
- Write the lesson into notebook.
- Prepare “Unit 12. (cont.) section A. What are they doing? (3, 4, 5)” for the next time.

Content
- Play game “slap the board”.
- Practice.
Volleyball jogging swimming badminton
Presentation:
- Ask SS to repeat the words indicating sports activities.
- Introduce some sports the teacher plays then ask questions.
- Have them answer.
- Repeat the words.
- Notice their meanings.
- Listen to the teacher.
- Try to answer, use the new words about sports activities.
New words:
- free (adj): dư, thừa
- free time: thời gian rảnh
- go fishing (v): đi câu cá
- video game (n): trò chơi video
Practice:
- Let them listen to the cassette and repeat.
- Then practice in groups of four or in pairs.
- Introduce the 2 character Lan and Nam, ask them to read the text about Lan and Nam.
- Ask SS to read then answer the questions below.
- Check whether their answers are right or wrong.
- Let them practice with their partners.
- Have them tell about themselves and talk to their friends about their favorite sports.
- Check the answers and correct if there is any mistake.
- Retell how to ask questions with interrogative words “which” and “what”. 
- Have them write the notes in their notebooks and learn by heart.
- Listen to the cassette and repeat.
- Practice in pairs.
- Listen.
- After reading the text try to answer the question.
- Write the questions and answers in the exercise notebook.
- Practice with partners.
- Try to tell about your favorite sports and ask your friends about theirs.
- Write about your favorite sports.
- Listen to the teacher.
- Write the notes in the notebooks and learn by heart.
Eg:
- What does Phương do in his free time?
-> He goes to the movie.
- What does Ly do in her free time?
-> She watches T.V.
- Which sports do you play?
-> I play soccer.
- What are you doing now?
-> I’m playing soccer.
Answer (A3):	
a. He plays soccer.
He is playing soccer.
b. He swims.
He is swimming.
Answer (A4):	
a. She swims, she does acrobics and she plays badminton.
b. No, she doesn’t.
c. He plays soccer. He jogs and he plays table tennis.
d. Yes, he does.
5. Write:
a. Which sports do you play?
->I play soccer.
b. Now write about the sports you play: soccer, volleyball, badminton, jog, skip rope
Consolidation:
- T. has them ask and answer about themselves.
- SS ask and answer in pairs.
What do you do in your free time?
-> I watch T.V.
- T. helps and corrects.
Homework:
- T. gives exercises and asks SS to do them at home. 
- SS do homework as directed.
- SS learn by heart vocabulary.
- Prepare “Unit 12. (cont.) section B. Free time (1, 2, 3)” for the next time.

Vocabulary: free time, movies, go fishing, theater

- Show pictures and give questions to elicit.
- Answer the teacher’s questions.

Presentation:
- Review new words indicating activities in spare time.
- Have SS listen to the cassette, repeat and look at the pictures.
- Listen to the teacher.
- Repeat and look at the pictures.
1. Listen and repeat:
New words:
- free (adj): dư, thừa
- free time: thời gian rảnh
- go fishing (v): đi câu cá
- theater (n): rạp chiếu phim
- movies (n): phim ảnh 
Practice:
- Have them practice in pairs.
- Call some pairs and let them practice before the class.
- Remark and correct the mistakes.
- Explain the sentences from a -> f. Retell what the characters in section and do in their spare time.
- Emphasize the third person singular and the agreement of the verbs.
- Let SS listen and read the sentences again.
- Practice in pairs.
- Do as the teacher requests.
- Listen to the teacher’s remarks.
- Pay attention to the teacher’s emphasis.
- Notice the agreement of the verbs after the 3rd person singular or singular subject.
2. Practice with a partner. Ask and answer the questions:

-> I watch T.V.
3. Practice with a partner. Ask and answer questions about the pictures in exercise B1
Consolidation:
