UNIT 7: TELEVISION Lesson 7: Looking back and project Date of preparing: 18 /01/2015, Date of teaching: 19/01/2015, Period 61, Class 6, Hồng Thái secondary chool. I. Aim: 1. Skills: - Ask and talk about a favorite TV programme. - Read a TV schedule and descriptions of famous children’s programmes for specific information. - Listen for specific information from a recommended TV schedule. - Write a short guided passage about one’s TV-watching habits. - Groupwork, pairworks and individual. 2. Knowledge: * Vocabulary: review the vocabulary * Structure: review: question word, conjunctions. 3. Attitude towards: co-coperation II. Recouses: book III. Content of the lesson: Activity Contents Warm up: (5’): * Play game. + T hangs the boardcard on the board and asks Ss do exercise. T asks Ss to revise the taught vocabulary about different jobs in TV (column A), TV programmes (column B) and different kinds of film (column C). - Ss try to match in two minutes. - T. asks Ss to read aloud Put the words in the box in the correct columns. newsreader documentary writer home and garden MC Animals cartoon games show weathergirl romance KEY People Programme Kinds of film newsreader weathergirl writer MC cartoon game show animals home and garden documentary romance Activity 1: ( 10’): Vocabulary: * Purpose: This activity focuses Ss on revising their vocabulary about the TV programmes. * Instruction: + This is a part in which Ss revise the vocabulary in a contextualized situation. Ss have to be able to recognize the relationship of the target words and their content. * Task: + From of learning, Ss have to practice individual use the words to fill the blank. + Ss read the text then use the words in the box to fill the text. + One Ss presents their wofk on the board and others provide comment. * Suggested answers: + Ex 2: 1. national 2. viewers 3. 7 o'clock news 4. How many 2. what 3. Why 4. Who 5. When + Ex 4: 1. Ocean Life is on at 7.30 and Laughing out Loud will follow, at 8.00. 2.1 have watched The Seven Kitties many times because I like the film so much. BBC One is a British channel but VTV6 is Vietnamese channel. Although Along The Coast is a famous TV series, I have never watched it. 5.I have a lot of homework tonight, so I can't watch Eight Feet Below. Activity 3: ( 10’): * Purpose: This activity focuses Ss on developing their reading comprehention skills about a TV programme. * Instruction: + This part is a bit demanding as it requires both reading and comprehension and the ability to recogmize a logical orderof a flow of ideal. + Ss can use the target language they have learnt and the information about their favourite programme in a more realistic context: in a conversation. + T asks ss to work in groups and rearrange sentence. * Task: + From the guide Ss work in groups and make sentences in the correct order. + Ss rearrange the order of the sentences to have a complete conversation about a TV programme. + Ss work in pair their work and others provide comment. * Suggested answers: + A-C-B-D-F-H-G-E-I-K Consolidation: ( 8’): Project: T. suggests Ss doing “project”. - Ss work in groups and brainstom what programme they can watch to have a happy life.
