Practice the dialogue:
A: Let’s go camping.
B: Yes, let’s do that. Then we can rest and enjoy ourselves in the quiet countryside.
C: Oh, I don’t think it’s a good idea. If we go camping, we’ll have to bring a lot of things with us.
Simple structure to give reasons for:
- agreeing: expressing agreement. Then + S+ Can+ V+ O
- disagreeing: expressing disagreement. (conditional type 1) If + S+ V+ O, S+ will have to/ can+ V+O
New words:
1. spectacular /spekˈtækjələ(r)/ (adj): very impressive.
2. wild /ˈwaɪld / (adj): living or growing in natural conditions, not kept in house or held captive.

(Skill) develop their speaking skill. OBJECTIVE: By the end of the lesson students will be able to talk about entertainment activities, express agreement or disagreement, and state the reasons for their ideas. Language: some useful words to talk about entertainment activities. Structures: expressions of agreement and disagreement about entertainment activities and stating the reasons. Skill: understanding and using the following functions properly. TEACHING AIDS: Communicative approach, integrated, mainly communication. Discussion, pair work, group work, individual work Textbook, project, microphone, PowerPoint, pictures, wall- chart and handouts. IV. ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: Students may not have much knowledge and words/ phrases about recreation. Students may be shy when speaking. T divides class into 4 groups. When the questions appear, each group will write down their answer on the group board. The group shows answer quickest will get 1 bonus whether their answer is right or wrong. Each right answer will get 3 points. But wrong answer will get 2 minuses. Individual work: T asks Ss to define the term “Recreation” based on their thinking. Warm- up: Answer questions What does “home based” mean? = at home. Which sport is it? – cricket What is the opposite word of “simple”? = sophisticated What are spectator sport? = sports people often watch/ popular sports. What is this activity? = glass engraving What is it? = a tent à When may we need a tent? = When we go camping. Recreation= the fact of people doing things for enjoyment. a particular activity that sb does when they are not working Group work Individual work 5’ II. While- speaking TASK 1 - T divides class into 2 big groups. - T tells the instruction: “work in group and decide which statements show agreement and which statements show disagreement. Then members of each group go to the board to show your answers by sticking the letter A next to agreement and D to disagreement. Each member has only 1 chance to do and the next member can only do after the previous one has finished. Which group finishing first will receive 2 bonuses. For one correct answer, you will get 1 point.” - T gives a model. - Ss listen to the instruction and pay attention to the model. - T sets the task. - Then Ss work in group. - T corrects answers and gives feedback by conducting repetition of the phrases chorally, then check with Ss whether each of them is A or D. - T helps Ss review ways of making suggestions. Task 1: Sticking the letter A next to agreement and D to disagreement. ___1. I agree with you 100 percent. ___2. Great! ___3. I quite agree with you. ___4. I don’t agree with you. ___5. That’s a good idea, but ___6. I don’t think that’s a good idea. ___7. I totally/ completely agree with you. ___8. I totally/ completely disagree with you. ___9. I can’t agree with you more. ___10. I can’t agree with you there. Ways of making suggestions: Let/s + Vbare Why don/t we + Vbare How/ What about + Ving I suggest we should + Vbare Group work 8’ TASK 2: T gives Ss handout, and analyses the example by highlighting key words, then explains how to show agreement/ disagreement. T conducts repetition chorally. T asks Ss to work in groups of 3, read sentences in the dialogue and then use other structures they have learned in task 1 to substitute for the dialogue. Ss practice the dialogue in groups of 3. Ss substitute the bold words in the dialogue by using the phrases they have learned in task 1. T calls on some pairs to practice the dialogue in front of class; each pair must not repeat the structures that the others used. Practice the dialogue: A: Let’s go camping. B: Yes, let’s do that. C: Oh, I don’t think it’s a good idea. à Substitution: Example: A: Let’s go to the cinema. B: Great! C: That’s a good idea, but I prefer to go to the park. Whole class Group work 13’ TASK 3: Continuing with the dialogue in task 2, T explains how to give reasons for agreement/ disagreements by pre- teaching structures. T conducts repetition chorally. Then T asks 3 Ss to practice the conversation in front of class as a model. Ss listen and practice. T teaches some new words. T shows the slide of reasons for agreement and disagreement. T asks Ss to add more reasons into the dialogue by replacing with the reasons they have been shown. Ss works in groups of 3. T calls on some pairs to practice the dialogue in front of class; each pair must not repeat the structures that the others used. T gives comment. Practice the dialogue: A: Let’s go camping. Reasons for agreeing Reasons for disagreeing 1. can enjoy spectacular scenery. 2. can have a lot of outdoor activities. 3. can get close to nature. 4. can enjoy the trees, flowers, and the wildlife. 5. can become more active. 1. have to bring a lot of equipment which is heavy. 2. have to eat bread for two days, which is not pleasant. 3. have to hire a guide, which costs a lot of money. 4. have to sleep in a tent, the weather might be bad. Whole class Individual work Group work 10’ TASK 4 - T asks Ss to discuss in groups of 5 and decide where they should go in this summer holiday, they also need to state the reasons too. - T delivers Ss some models. - Ss works in groups of 5. When working in groups, Ss should use the expressions, structures, and new words in the previous tasks to show their opinions as well as to persuade others to accept their ideas. After that, the representatives of some groups will present their group’s idea. - T calls some representatives to present in front of class. - T gives comment. Group work 2’ - T summarises the main points of the lesson. WRAPPING UP - Homework: learn by heart new structures and vocabulary. Practice tasks again at home. Prepare for next lesson. HCM city, ..
