 B. LISTENING
I. Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to
- Knowmore about Van Cao and his music
- Improve their vocabulary on music and listening skills
II. Materials: Textbook, handouts, black board, tape-recording

* Warm up:
- Ask students to listen some songs of Van Cao and makes question.
-Teacher turns on the music and asks students to listen
- Do you know them? How do you feel when you hear these songs? Do you know who wrote it/ who is the musician?
- Lead-in:
Now, we will know something more about Van Cao and his music in part C.Listening.
- Listen to the music
- Answer questions
Warm up and get attention of students. Besides that it’s the first step to build some question in their mind.

+ lyrical (a): trữ tình

+ Ask students in Vietnamese meaning
+ Rousing (a): “What is opposite of sad, bored?” ( antonym)?
+ how is your attitude when you sing ‘Quoc Ca’
+ Rural (a): “What is another word for countryside?”(synonym)
+ National Anthem (n): national, what does it mean? Anthem is synonym with song. So, what is the national anthem mean?
+ give eg: you are the best students in lass,you always get the highest marks in class, how do you feel to class? 
+ the type of song that talk about love.
Steps:
-Ask Ss to guess the meanings of the new words. 
-Write the new words on the board
- Read these new words 2 times. 
-Read again and ask Ss to repeat then.
- Call some Ss to read.
- Ask students to write down the words into their notebook and learn by heart these words at home.
Thinking and answering the questions
Help students remember vocabularies easily.

Task 1: Listen and then choose the best answer A, B, C, D for the following sentences

- Ask students the requirement of the task
- Ask them how many letter will they choose
- Tell them the times they will listen to the conversation ( 2 times first and the last time they will choose the answers)
- Open the dialog 3 times

Listen and choose the correct answers
 Help students practice listening skill through the available sentences, it will easier for them to listen, especially to weak students.

Task 2: Work in groups. Listen again and answer the questions

Task 3: Work in groups. Fill in the blanks with the correct words.
In the “ My favourite musician (1)” programme, Lan Huong interviewed Quang Hung, a well-known (2) actor, about his favorite songs and musicians of Vietnam. Quang Hung thought that there have been quite a few good musicians recently but he just loved Van Cao (3)’s songs, and Tien Quan Ca (4)was one of his favourite songs,wrote in 1944, and it was hard and solemn (5).

** Homework: study the new vocabularies and finish task 3( if don’t have time enough)
- Ask students the requirement of the task
_ Give them 5 minutes to do it.
- Ask them go to the board and write the answers.
