Period 3: 	UNIT 1: MY HOBBIES
A CLOSER LOOK 1
I. Objectives:
 By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
 - Pronounce correctly the sounds /ə / and /ɜː/ in isolation and in context; 
 - Improve their listening skill, writing skill and pronunciation.
II. Language content:
 - Vocab: The items related to hobbies.
 - Grammar: The simple present, the simple future tenses
III. Teaching aids:
 -Text books, boards, chalk,...
 -A cassette and an audio compact disk.
IV. Procedures:

 I. Warm-up
- T: divides the class into groups
- Ss work in groups to play network.
- T: lead Ss to the new lesson.
Activity 1: Vocabulary
-T: explains some new words by using pictures , real objects 
- SS: Listen and give the meaning
- SS: practice the words aloud and individually
- T: listens and corrects and asks ss to look at the words given on page 8 in 20 seconds and try to remember as many words as possible.
- Ss go to the board and match in teams
- T gives feedback
Activity 2: Fill in each blank with one hobby or action verb
- T: shows the table and the sentences
- Ss discuss in groups to complete the sentences.
- Ss present their answers
- T: gets feedback and gives the key.
Activity 3: Pronunciation
-Ss skim through the words given.
- T explains the rule how to pronounce the sounds 
- SS listen and take notes
- T have Ss listen and tick the words they hear. 
- Ss listen again and repeat.
- Ss show their answer.
- T: checks and gives feedback and explains ss how to do part 6 and 7
- Ss listen to the tape and put the words in the correct column and sentences
- Ss compare their answer with their partner.
- Ss listen to the tape to check their answers.
-T: corrects Ss' mistakes and gives the key
- Ss present before the class.
- The student who has the most points is the winner.
