1- Lead-in

1. Set the situation:

- Asks sts to answer some questions

+ What is your favorite food?

+ What do you usually have for breakfast / lunch / dinner?

+ Is it good if we eat something too much and regularly?

2. Leads into the new lesson:

“Today, you’ll read about a balanced diet to help you keep fit and stay healthy.”

2. Pre – Reading:

1. Reads once to introduce some new words (or plays the tape once)

- Affect / moderate amount/ energy / balanced diet / fatty food / body – building food / cereal / lifestyle / moderation / variety / guideline.

2. Checks understanding:

- Organizes “Slap the board”

3. While – reading:

- Asks sts to listen again, then read in silence to exercise True/False

1. Sugar is an unhealthy food.

2.Sugar adds taste to food and gives you energy

3.We should eat plenty of fatty food ad sugar.

4.We should eat plenty of cereals,fruit,and vegetables.

- Asks students read the paragraph and answer the two questions

- Explains the questions

- Circles to help and check

- Calls some sts to answer the questions

- Asks class to check whether they are right or wrong.

To introduce some new words relating to food and diet. 
To anable the sts to revise the simple present tense. 
* Language function: 
To help the students ask and answer about balanced diet. 
* Educational aim: 
By the end of the lesson, the sts are aware of the importance of blanced diet.

a. Vocabulary: 
Affect, moderate, energy, amount, balanced diet, cereal
Lifestyle, moderation, variety, guideline, body-buiding food. 
b. Structure: 
The present simple tense. 
2. Skill: Integrated skills: Reading 
3. Educational factor: 
Knowing how to eat sensibly, how to have a balanced diet. 
II. TEACHER AND STUDENTS’ PREPARATION:
