Unit 9: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

Lesson 2: 1-2-3

I. Objectives: After the lesson, students are able to:

- Asking and answering questions about what people are doing.

- develop: speaking skill.

- Ss look after , solve problems and study themselves.

- Studious and obedient students and love their friends.

II. Language focus:

- Vocabulary:

- Sentence patterns : What did the .do when you were there? -> they .

III. Teaching aids:

1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, objects, cassette.

2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

IV. Procedure

Warm up:

- Ask Ss look at the picture about animals and ask, answer question what you see at the zoo

- Ask Ss to work in groups to discuss.

- Call some Ss to play role

- Check their answers.

1. Look,listen and repeat.

- Introduce the dialogue.

- Explain new the grammar: using to ask about someone’s activities.

- Check and correct.

- Ask Ss to work in pairs and practise with dialogue

- Call some pairs to practise in front of class and check their pronunciation.

2. Point and say

- Guide ss how to answer this question

- Have Ss look and identify characters’ activities.

- Ask Ss to practice acting out the dialogue point & use the information in picture a, b, c and d in pairs.

- Do picture a as a model.

- Call 6-7 pairs say in front of the class. Others give comments.

UNIT 9. What did you see at the zoo?
 Lesson 1. Part 1-2-3
Object: After the lesson, students will be able to :
- use the words and phrases related to the topic Animals at the zoo.
- ask and answer questions about animals in a zoo, using What did you see at the zoo? I saw ...
- Develop: Reading and writing skills.
- Ss look after , solve problems and study themselves.
- Studious and obedient students and love their friends.
Teaching aids:
Teaching aids: CD and poster.
Resources: student’s book ( p.58)
Procedures
Warm up
Play game: “Guessing game”
Show picture about animals and ask them to guess the name of animals. 
Divide class into three groups and have them play game.
Look, listen and repeat.
Have the class look at the pictures. Introduce the story by pointing at each character and elicit pupils’ answers to these questions: Who are the pupils? Where are they? What are they talking about? Check their comprehension.
Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books. Play it again for them to do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking.
Ask Ss to work in pairs and play role.
Call some pairs play role in front of class and check their pronunciation.
Point and say
Tell the class that they are going to practise asking and answering questions about the animals in a zoo, using What did you see at the zoo? I saw ...
Teach the names of the animals and how to say them: pythons, crocodiles, peacocks and gorillas. Ask pupils to practise saying the answer I saw ..., using the words under the pictures.
 Point at each picture and ask the question for pupils to answer.
Get pupils to practise asking and answering in pairs. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.
Invite two pairs to ask and answer the questions in this section.
Let’s talk
Tell the class that they are going to practise further by asking and answering questions about the animals in the zoo. Get pupils to work in groups of four.
 Set a time limit for them to practise. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.
 Invite a few pairs to act out the exchanges in front of the class. Then give feedback. Correct their pronunciation, if necessary.

I. Objectives: 
- After the lesson Ss will be able to: 
- Develop: Writing, listening skills .
- Ss look after , solve problems and study themselves.
- Studious and obedient students and love their friends.
II. Language focus: 
- Vocabulary: animals
- Sentence patterns: - What did she/he see at the zoo? - He/ She saw
III. Teaching aids:
1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, objects, cassette.
2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.
IV. Procedure:
Warm up
Warm up: “Slap the board”
Divide class into 2 groups and introduce the game
Ask them to play game
Tell the winner.
4. Listen and tick 
- Ask Ss to look at the picture and guide them to do task
- Check their comprehension
- Play the recording CD and ask Ss to listen
- Play it again and have them tick the answers
- Call some Ss to read answers and check answers
5. Read and complete 
- Tell Ss look at the text
- Check their comprehension in this task
- Guide Ss to do this task and work individually.
- Call some Ss to do this task on the board.
- Check their answers
6. Let’s sing
- Tell pupils that they are going to sing What did you see at the zoo? Have them read each line of the lyrics and teach them any unfamiliar words. Check their comprehension.
- Play the recording all the way through for them to listen and follow in their books. Play it again for them to do choral repetition line by line.
- When they are familiar with the melody, ask the class to sing along with the music.
Invite two groups to sing the song and do actions in front of the class: one group sings the
questions and the other sings the answers. The rest of the class clap their hands along to the rhythm.

Object: After the lesson, students will be able to :
- Develop: listening and writing skills.
- Ss look after , solve problems and study themselves.
- Studious and obedient students and love their friends.
Teaching aids:
Teaching aids: CD and poster.
Resources: student’s book ( p.61)
Procedures
Warm up
Play game: “Slap the board”
Divide class into 3 groups and introduce the game.
Ask them to play game
Which group is faster and correct is the winner.
Check the answers and tell the winner.
Listen and circle a or b.
Tell the class that they are going to listen and circle a or b. Ask them to read the questions and
guess the answers. Check their understanding.
 Play the recording all the way through for them to listen. Play it again for them to do the task.
Get them to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class.
Key: 1 a 2 b 3 b 
Write about your visit to the zoo.
Remind the class that they should write about things that really happened to them.
 Have pupils read the questions and check their understanding.
 Set a time limit for them to do the writing. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.
Get them to swap and read their writing in pairs before inviting one or two to read their answers aloud. 
Let’s play
Tell pupils that they are going to play Charades.
 Divide the class into Team A and Team B. Stick a large sheet of paper on the board with the following words written on it: slowly, noisily, quickly, loudly, quietly and beautifully. Explain how the game is played. One pupil of Team A mimes a zoo animal and asks What did I see at the zoo? The pupils of Team B answer the question. If the answer is correct, Team B wins one point. Another pupil from Team A mimes an action which that animal does and asks What did they do there? Team B gives the answer. If the answer is correct, Team B wins another point. Then it is Team B’s turn to mime and ask questions. Set a time limit. The two teams take turns to mime and ask questions. The team that gets more points wins.
