OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, sts will be able ask and answer questions about the subjects they have on the weekdays + Vocab: Vietnamese, English, Maths, Science, Art, Music, IT = Information Technology,. + Sentence patterns: What subjects do you have today? I have Vietnamese, English and Maths II. PREPARATION + Audio and visual aids: computer, projector, speakers, small boards, some books of school subjects,... III. PROCEDURES Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm up (3’) - Collect the Ss' collections - Ask: “ How many days in a week are there?” “ What are they?” 2. Presentation(10’) - Tell Ss that they are going to read a story in which they ask/ answer Qs about school subjects, using: What subjects do you have today? I have Vietnamese, English and Maths - Let sts talk about the characters in the pictures - Play the recording - Play the recording again (some times). - Go around and help Ss - Correct about the intonation, .... -Ask: Which sentence does T. ask N.? Which sentence does N. answer? 3. Pratice (15’) -Tell pupils that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about what subjects we have on the weekdays, using What subjects do you have today? I have.... - Have them look at the pictures to understand how the language is used in different contexts. Help Ss if they need - Point to the first picture and do the task with one pupil, using the expressions in the bubbles and the words under the picture. - Check as a class and correct pronunciation, if necessary. 4. Production (10’) - Tell pupils that they are going to practice asking and answer questions, using What do you like doing? Warm up - Ask Ss to play a game: make a circle. Passing the ball while listeningto music. Pre- listening(10’) - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to three dialogues about school subjects and tick the correct pict. - Have pupils look at the pictures to identify the subjects. - Check understanding. 3. While- listening(9’) - Play the recording - Play again (3 times) - Check as a class. Ask: What can you hear in number 1/2/3? Audio script: /p67 T's book Key: 1. b 2. a 3. c 4. Post- listening(15’) - Tell pupils that they are going fill the gaps of the sentences with diffirent days of the week and the subjects they have - Go around and offer help, if necessary - Check as a class. If there is enough time, call a few pupils to read aloud completed sentences. Key: 1. Monday – Vietnamese, Science and English 2. Wednesday – has Maths, IT and Music 3. Friday – has Maths, Science and Art *Fun time - Tell pupils that they are going to sing the song What day is it today?/p53 - Help Ss if they need (new words, structures,..) - Play the recording or sing the song all the way through. - Get groups of pupils to sit face to face and practise singing and doing the actions. - Get groups of pupils to sit face to face and practise singing and doing the actions. 5. Post- reading - Tell pupils that they are going fill the gaps of the sentences relating to the school subjects. - Go around and offer help, if necessary - Check as a class. PREPARATION Recordings, computer, projector, speakers, a small ball... III. PROCEDURES Teacher’s activities Students’ activitives 1. Warm up (5’) - Let Ss look at the Puzzle/55, ask/answer, using the words there. Help Ss if they need 2. Presentation (8’) -Tell pupils that they are going to practise saying the sounds of the letters ct and cts in the words subject and subjects respectively. - Play the recording and ask pupils to repeat a few times. - Put the letters ct and cts in the words subject and subjects and the sentences English is my favourite subject. and What subjects do you have today? on the board. - Play the recording a few more times and let pupils say the sentences, paying attention to the target sounds. 3. English is my favourite subject. - Check comprehension. - Play the recording a few times for pupils to do choral and individual repetition. Show them how to chant and do actions. - Put them into groups of four. Get pairs or groups to sit opposite of each other and practice chanting and doing actions. Go around offering help, if necessary. - Call two groups of pupils to the front of the class to chant and do actions. Pre- writing (10') - Get Ss to read the text and focus on the information to complete the passage. - Go around to help - Compare with the keys Key: 1, Vietnamese 2, Maths 3, Science 4, Art 3. While- writing(15') - Tell Ss that they are going to write a short paragraph about them and their school subjects - Check comprehension. - Go around for help when they do the task independently. - Get them to swap the writings before checking as a class .Key: 1, Yen Lang 1 2, Friday 3, (names of subjects) 4, (days the class has English) 5, (the subject they like the best) 4. Post- writing(5') - Explain the task: they are going to interview a friend in another class about his/her timetable and tell the class about it - Check understanding. 5.
