UNIT 17: What toys do you like?

Lesson 2( part 1, 2, 3)

I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to assk and answer questions about quanlity of toys.

* Teaching aids: pictures, computer.

II. Procedures:

1. Warm up:

- T ask ss the questions , using What toys do you like? I like .

- T gives feedback and introduces new lesson.

2. Look, listen and repeat.

- Have Ss to look at the book at page 48; identify the characters in the picture and what they are talking.

- Play the recording and asks Ss to listen to the tape twice.

- T asks Ss to listen and repeat in chorus three times.

- Let Ss practice the dialogue in pairs

 Gets some pairs to read it aloud

3. Point and say.

- T elicit ss to give the sentence pattern. (using picture)

 How many parrots do you have?

 I have five

- Ask ss to repeat the sentences chorally and individually.

- Tell ss they are going to practise asking the question about the numbers of pets using How many + (word for pet) do you have?

- Have the class repeat all the phrases in the pictures.

- Have Ss to work in pairs.

- Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (sound, assimilation of sound and intonation) and offer help when necessary.

- Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class.

- Others observe and comment.

5. Let’s talk.

- Have Ss look at the pictures on page (part 3) and identify the pets in the pictures.

- Have Ss to repeat the sentences in the bubbles a few times before letting them practice freely.

- Call a pair to the front to give a demonstration of interaction before starting the activity.

- Have Ss to work in pairs (use the names in their books or the real names to practice).

- Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary/ correct typical pronunciation errors.

- Call on a pair to demonstrate at the front of the class.

- Call a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class.

6. Reinforce ment:

- Ask ss to repeat What they have learned.

I.OBJECTIVES: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to ask and answer questiona about toys.

II. PROCEDURE
1. Warm-up: brainstorm: toys.
T controls- two teams play
T gives feedback.
T intrroduces new leson.
2. Look, listen and repeat.
Ask Ss to identify the characters in the picture on page 46 and what they are saying.
Set the scene “you are going to listen to Mai and Nam talking about their favourite toys.
Play the recording and asks Ss to listen to the tape twice.
T asks Ss to listen and repeat in chorus twice.
Have whole class repeat all the phrases a few times to reinforce their pronunciation.
T elicits model sentences from students
What toys do you like?
I like.
3. Point and say 
Have Ss look at the pictures on page 46, parrt 2.
Ask them to identify the toys in the pictures and what they should say.
Fill the bubbles and have Ss to repeat the lines a few times
Ask Ss to practice introducing their school things, using pictures 	
Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. 
Make some questions to check Ss’ comprehension of language
Have the whole class repeat all the phrases to reinforce their pronunciation.
4. Let's talk.
Have Ss look at the pictures on page 46 and identify the toys in the pictures.
Fill in the speech bubbles with the correct phrases promted by Ss
Have Ss to repeat the sentences a few times before let them practice freely. 
Have Ss to work in pairs to practice .
Call on a pair to demonstrate at the front of the class.
Have the whole class repeat all the phrases to reinforce their pronunciation.
T gives feedback.

Lesson 1 ( part 4, 5, 6)
I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to pracice futher on asking and answering about toys in the room through listening and writing. 
* Resourse: textboook, record
II. PROCEDURE
1. Warm-up: slap the board
T introduces the game and write the words on the board: ship, robot, train
T devides class into 2 teams: A and B.
T controls- ss play.
T gives feedback and introduces new lesson.
2. Listen and tick.
Have Ss look at pictures on page 47 and identify the toys in the rooms.
Set the scence: “you are going to listen and tick the correct boxes next to the pictures..
- 1st:Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen while they are
looking the pictures in their books.
2nd: play the recording for Ss to listen and tick the correct pictures.
3rd: play the recording for Ss to check their answers.
Have Ss swap an check their answers before checking as a class.
Ask some questions to ensure Ss’ comprehension of the listening text.
*Answer keys: 1. b ; 2. a ; 3. b
3. Read and write.
Tell ss that they are going to look at and complete he sentences about Nam, Mai, Quan, Phong, Linda and Peter, and the toys they like. Give a few seconds for ss to look at the picture and read the text in silence. Check comprehension and give feed back. Do the first gap filling as the example. Remind pupils to underline the key words when reading the text to use the answers.
Have Ss to swap and check their answers before calling pupils to read their answer aloud. Write the answers on the board for pupils to copy down into their books.
Do choral repetition of the completed sentences.
* keys: 1. playroom; 2. planes; 3. dolls; 4. ships; 5. kites; 6. trucks
4. Let's write.
Run through
Tell ss to write their answers using real facts.
T give ss time to do the task.
Tell ss to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.
Call pupils to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.
Call two ss to their answers on the board.
T gives comment.

I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to practice futher on asking and answering questions about quanlity of toys through listening and reading. 
* Resources: textbook, pictures, record, 
II. Procedure 
1. Warm-up: Chatting
T goes around and asks ss about the quanlity of toys in the class.
t gives feedback.
T introduces new lesson.
2. Listen and number.
Have Ss open the book on page 49 and runs through.
Elicit the identification of the things in the pictures.
Open prediction; ss guess
 T writes their prediction on the board.
Ask Ss to listen to the record and match the information they hear to the pictures and number the pictures.
1st:Play the record all the way through for Ss to listen while they are looking the pictures in their books
2nd: play the record for Ss to listen and number.
3rd: play the record for Ss to check their answers.
Have Ss trade their answers in pairs for correction.
Ask some questions to ensure Ss’ comprehension of the listening text.
Answers: 1. b ; 2. a ; 3. d ; 4. c . 	
3. Read and write.
Have Ss look at the passage on page 49, part 2
T runs through.
Set the scence: “ you are going to read the passage to get the information in order to complete the sentences.”
Ask Ss to read the passage and do the task.
Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary.
Have Ss trade the answers in pairs for correction.
Call on some Ss to report their answers. Others listen and comment.
T gives feedback.
Answers: 1. dogs; parots.
	 2. cats; dog.
	 3. goldfish.
4. Let's write: Spot the diffferences.
T runs through.
T asks ss to work in pairs to discuss and then write the answers.
T calls pairs to show their answers.
T gives feedback.
6. Homelink : 
Do exercises 1, 2 on page 70 in workbook .
