UNIT 9: What colour is it?
Lesson 1 ( part 4, 5, 6)
I.OBJECTIVES: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to pracice futher on ask and answer questions about school things through listening and writing.
* Resourse: textboook, record
II. PROCEDURE
1. Warm-up: slap the board
- T introduces the game with the words: book, rubbers, ruler, pencils, school, desks, bag
- T devides class into 2 teams: A and B.
- T controls- ss play.
- T gives feedback and introduces new lesson.
2. Listen and tick.
- Have Ss look at pictures on page 59 and identify the characters and guess what they are saying.
- Set the scence: “you are going to listen to the recording, match the information they hear to the pictures and tick the box in the appropriate picture".
- 1st:Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen while they are
looking the pictures in their books.
- 2nd: play the recording for Ss to listen and tick the correct pictures.
- Have Ss trade their answers in pairs for correction.
- 3rd: play the recording for Ss to check their answers and give correct answers.
- Ask some questions to ensure Ss’ comprehension of the listening text.
- *Answer keys: 1. b; 2. a ; 3. b
3. Look, read and write.
- Tell pupils that they are going to read and answer the questions about school thing. Give pupils a few seconds to look at the picture and read the text in silence. Check comprehension and give feedback.
- Give pupils time to do the task. Go around to offer help, if necessary.
- Give pupils to swap and check their answers before writing the correct answer on the board for pupils to coppy down in to their notebook.
- Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary/ correct typical pronunciation errors.
- Call on a pair to demonstrate at the front of the class.
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases to reinforce their pronunciation.

Set the scene “you are going to listen to Mai and Nam talk about school things. Play the recording and asks Ss to listen to the tape twice. T asks Ss to listen and repeat in chorus two times. Have whole class repeat all the phrases a few times to reinforce their pronunciation. T elicits model sentences from students Ask and answer about the school things Is this/ that your + name of school things? Yes, it is/ No, it isn’t. 3. Point and say Tell pupils that they are going to practice askingand answering the question is that/ this + your school thing. Have Ss look at the pictures a,b,c,d and run through. T makes a model and write the board. T asks ss to repeat chorally and individually. Ask Ss to practice introducing their school things, using pictures ( works in pairs) a. desk/ yes b. pencil sharpener/no c. pen/ yes d. pencil case/ no Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. 4. Let’s talk. - Tell pupils that they are going to practise more with their friends. Give pupils a few seconds to look at the school things in pictures and check comprehension. Point to a school thing and elicit the words to fill the gaps. Write them on the boardand have pupils repeat them a few times. Get a pair to give a demonstration of the dialogue before starting the activity. - Get pupils to work in pairs. Go around to offer help and correct the pronounciation, if necessary. - Call some pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. 5. Have Ss look at the pictures on page 60 and identify the things and their colour in the pictures. Have Ss to repeat the sentences a few times before let them practice freely. Have Ss to work in pairs to practice . Call on a pair to demonstrate at the front of the class. Have the whole class repeat all the phrases to reinforce their pronunciation. 6. OBJECTIVES : By the end of this lesson, students will be able to practice futher on asking and answering questions about school facilities through listening and reading. * Resources: textbook, pictures, record, II. Procedure Colours 1. Warm-up: Brainstorm red T introduces the game. T devides class into 2 teams: A and B. T controls- ss play. t gives feedback. T introduces new lesson. 2. Listen and number. Have Ss open the book on page 61 and runs through. Elicit the identification of the places in the pictures. Open prediction; ss guess- T writes their prediction on the board. Ask Ss to listen to the record and match the information they hear to the pictures and number the pictures. 1st:Play the record all the way through for Ss to listen while they are looking the pictures in their books 2nd: play the record for Ss to listen and number. Have Ss trade their answers in pairs for correction before checking as a class.. Play the recording one moer and ask some questions to ensure Ss’ comprehension of the listening text. Answers: 1.d ; 2.b ; 3.a ; 4.c . 3. Read and match. Have Ss look at the passage on page 61, part 2 T runs through. Set the scence: “ you are going to read the passage to get the information in order to match the best answer.” Ask Ss to read the passage and do the task. Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. Have Ss trade the answers in pairs for correction. Call on some Ss to report their answers. Others listen and comment. T gives feedback. Answers: 1. b; 2. d; 3. e; 4. c. 4. Let's sing: My new pen T runs through. T plays the record for ss to listen twice. T plays again for ss to sing the sentence in turn. T asks ss to practice singing. Get group of pupils to sit face to face to practise singing and doing the actions. T calls a group of four sing, each singing one line of the song.
