Lesson 1	GETTING STARTED & LISTEN AND READ
I. Objectives:
1. Educational aims: Students get acquainted with the topic “Study habits”. 
2. Teaching aim : By the end of the lesson Ss can use direct speech and indirect speech.
II. Language contents :
1. Vocabulary : (n) Semester, Pronunciation, dictionary, School report
 (adj) Hard working, Spanish. 
2. Grammar : - Structure: + How often. ?
 + Adverbs of manner. 
III. Techniques: 
Eliciting, True / False
IV. Teaching aids : 
Pictures, cassette

1. Warm up :
-Asking some questions
- How many subjects do we have a week?/ What are they?/ What subjects do you like best? Why?.
What are they doing in the piture?
2. Presentation
-Now listen to the tape and tell me what are they talking about.?-> They are talking about Tim’s school report.
-Present new words and structure:

2. While -Speaking:
- Ask some questions in the box from page 48
and information to answers in the box .
- Have students practice in groups
- Check the mistakes and correct the answers.

 exam.

word and its use on a small piece of paper and stick it somewhere in their house so as to learn it at any time.

2. Teaching aims : By the end of the lesson, Students will be able to know the format of a friendly letter and practice writing a letter to a friend .

Lunar New Yea, Mid Autumn Festival
2. Grammar : 
Simple Past tense.
III. Techniques, ask and answer, role play.
IV. Teaching aids: poster
V. Procedures :
Teacher’s activities
1. Warm up :
-Have you ever written letter to your friends?
-What did you write to tell your friends about?
-“Do you often write a letter to someone? Or Do you receive a letter from one another?”
2. Pre-Writing :
-Ask students some questions.
-Have Ss arrange the parts of a letter into a complete letter. (handout)
-Have students read a letter from p.51 then label the section in the box with a letter p.50.
-Call on some Ss to review the ways how to write a letter.” How many parts are there in a personal letter ? Do you know how they called ?
- Explain new words:
“Lunar New Year = Tet Holiday”
“Mid Autumn Festival = Moon Festival”
3. While-Writing :
- Have students read the letter by individual or choral.
- Use the set of the words or phrase in part 2 to write a letter
-Read allow the complete letter.
-Make a similar letter to your friends.
-Call some Students to read their forms and correct mistakes.
-Use their forms to write a paragraph.

Thanks for your letter. I’m glad to hear you had an interesting/ enjoyable Mother’s Day.
I received my second semester report last month. I got good grades for Geography, physics and math, but my English and History results were poor. My teacher told me to improve English and history. I think I’ll have to study harder next school year.
In a few week, we ‘re going to celebrate the mid- Fall festival. That is a moon festival in Autumn or fall in Viet nam. I’m going to Ha Long Bay with my aunt and uncle by bus this afternoon and I’m going to stay there with them until after the festival. I’ll send you a postcard from there.
