UNIT6 - LESSON 5 - Period 17

 Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
 + Unit objective: Learn to talk about pets
 + Lesson objective: Present exotic pet
 New vocabulary: Snake, spider, iguana, mouse, frog, hamster
 New grammar: 
 Grammar review: Is it a/an....? / It’s a/an I have/ don’t have....
 Materials required for the lesson: Textbook (page 62); Flash cards of pets

-give ss playing game: Guessing 
- Show students flashcards of animals (snake, spider, iguana, mouse, frog, and hamster) one by one.Then introduce new lesson.
-Write unit6-lesson 5 on the board.
-Play game.
-Guess the names of the animals in the flashcards and answer the teacher’s question: Con nhện, con tắc kè, con chuột, ếch ..

Activity 1: Listen and point. Then say.(13’)
-Play the CD for ss to listen.
-Guide for ss to read words on the screen.
Listen to the tape
-Ask them to say the pets in the flashcards.
 -Repeat the word in English while listening to the students’ answers and write on the board (spider, iguana, mouse, frog, hamster). 
- Repeat after the teacher.
- Stick pictures of those animals to the board next to each word. and get students to repeat after it in chorus. 
-Repeat after the teacher in chorus.
Call the whole class, each group and each student to read again.
-Read again
- Ask the students to play game: Chinese whispher. 
- Play game.

1. Give words of pets on the screen 
- T says aloudly pets 2 times: 1, snake 2, mouse 3, iguana 4, spider and has Ss listen and circle the words.
Call 4 student to give answers .

-Open CD again for ss to Check again 
Answers:
1, snake 2, mouse 3, iguana 4, spider
-Check again under T’s guidance.
Activity 3: Talk to a friend.(5’)
-Say I have a mouse. I don’t have a spider.
-Point to a S to say what pet he/ she has and doesn’t have.
-I have. I don’t have.
-In pairs, Ss talk about what pet they have and don’t have (They can imagine)
-Call some ss to say in front of the class.
-Work in pairs.
Closing

-Review the lesson by open the song file for ss listen and remember some pets and words. 
-Guide them to do the homework.
-Call out the names of some pets.
-Listen to the teacher’s instruction.

Activity 1: Warm up(7’)

1. Revise the language from last lesson (iguana, mouse, hamster,....)by playing the game: Clapping the board
+ Stick pictures/ names of pets on the board
+ Divide class into 2 groups, each one has a representative to play the game
+ T read aloud one pets at random, and ask Ss to clap at the right picture as quickly as possible
+ The person clap the right picture the quickest will get one star for his/ her group
- Get students to pay attention and instruct the rule of the game.

Activity 2: Teacher’s presentation and students’ practice(18’) 
Mode:

1. Ask the children to look at the picture on page 63 in the book ask them to describe the picture on the textbook. 
- Scan the picture on the textbook page 63 and stick on the board, ask
+ Who do you see in the picture?
+What are they talking?
+ How many pets mentioned?
Look at the picture and answer teacher’s questions.
+ Eddie, Beakie
+ they are talking about pets
+ two : frog, spider
Materials: textbook, cassette tape, flashcards.
2. -Play the tape, ask children to listen and repeat.
- In the 1st listening, ask students to listen and say name of the pets they hear. 
- In the 2nd listening, ask students to listen and repeat after CD.
- Divide class into two groups to repeat the voice of Beakie in turn

3. Show other pictures on page 63 and ask Ss to play a role of Eddie and Beakie to make the same conversation

- Encourage them to ask students below class the question: Do you have....?
- Call the student below that raise the hand to answer: Yes, I do. No, I don’t

- Each student will show their picture and ask: Do you have....??
- Students below will answer: Yes, I do. No, I don’t
Activity 3: Sing (page 63-part 2)(8’)
Open the song for ss to listen(2 times).
Guide to read the lyric of the song.
Open the song for ss sing along.
Encourage ss to sing the song without the CD.
- Practice singing the song.

-Ask students to say again about grammar they have learnt.
-Give homework for Ss.
