a) Vocabulary: - this; that; yes; no
b) Structure:	- This is + name.
- Is this + name? => Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t.
- Is that + name? => Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t.

Introduction of New lesson. 
- Greet the class by saying Hello.
- Say Hello to the class and have them reply. Walk around the class to greet some pupils, slapping on the hand of the greeted pupils.

2. Look, listen and repeat.

- Have pupils turn their books to Page 18. Ask pupils the names of the characters and what they say. Tell them that they are going to hear Miss Hien introduce someone. Use a poster or two character puppets to present the situation. Explain the meaning of the language practised.
- Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking.
- Play the recording for pupils to listen and say along.

3. Point and say. (7-10’)
- Have pupils look at Picture. Ask them to identify the characters in the picture. Use flashcards to teach the introduction in the speech bubbles. Have pupils repeat the phrases a few times.
- Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible.
- Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language.
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation.

4. Let’s talk. 
(7-10’)
- Tell pupils that they are going to practise more with friends.
- Have pupils look at the picture and ask them to identify the characters in the picture. Point to Picture and ask pupils to guess what the boys would say to introduce someone. Fill the speech bubbles with the correct phrases provided by pupils. Then have them repeat the sentences in the bubbles a few times before letting them practise freely. Pupils could use the names in their books or their real names to practise.
- Pupils practise acting out in groups, using the picture in their books or the character puppets. Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. Correct typical pronunciation error(s).
- Call a group to act out the dialogue in front of the class to act out the introduction. The rest of the class watch and comment.
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases to reinforce their pronunciation.

- Have pupils turn their books to Page 20. Ask pupils the names of the characters.
- Tell pupils that they are going to ask and answer questions about someone. Give pupils a few seconds to look at the pictures and read the text. Piont to the first picture and elicit what each character says. 
- Get pupils to repeat the text in the bubbles a few times. Repeat the procedure with the second picture.
- Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking.
- Play the recording for pupils to listen and say along.

- Tell pupils that they are going to practise answering questions about someone, using Is that+(name)?
- Have pupils look at Pictures a,b,c and d. Ask them to identify the characters in the pictures. Use flashcards to teach the greetings in the speech bubbles. Have pupils repeat the each of the sentences a few times.
- Model: Call on a pair and ask them to pretend to be Mai and Nam to act out the greeting exchange. Repeat the step but this time have the pair swap their parts.
- Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking.
- Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible.
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation.

- Have pupils turn their books to Page 22. Tell them that they are going to practise saying the letters, words and sentences in the book.Put the phonics letters t and y on the board and say them a few times. Ask pupils to repeat.
- Tell pupils to write the initial letters of the words starting a sentence or names of people in capital letters.
- Do choral repetition of the words and sentences until pupils feel confident.
- Play the recording for pupils to listen and say along.

3. Listen and write. (7-10’)
- Have pupils open their books to Page 22. 
 Tell pupils that they are going to do a dictation. Give pupils a few seconds to read the text in silence before starting dictation. 
- Have pupils swap and check their answers before checking as a class.
- Ask some pupils to read their answers aloud to the class. The rest of the class listen and give comments.
- Write the correct answers on the board.
- Have the whole class read each sentences to reinforce their pronunciation.

4. Let’s chant. (7-10’)
- Tell pupils that they are going to say the Hello chant. Read the chant and check comprehension. Follow the procedure in teaching the unit components in the Introduction.
- Play the recording a few times for pupils to do choral and individual repetition. Show pupils how to chant and do the actions.
- Call some groups of three to give a demonstration. 
- Get groups of pupils sit face to face and practise chanting and doing the actions. Monitor the activity; offer help when necessary. Correct pronunciation error(s) when necessary.
- Call two groups to the front of the class to chant and do actions. The rest of the class claps along to the rhythm of the chant.
- Have the whole class sing the song again to reinforce their pronunciation.
