1.–ING participles

The -ing ending is added to the root of a verb to create a present participle (e.g., play becomes playing). Its function, explained below, is to form the progressive tense or to act as a verbal (a verb used as a noun or adjective).

-Introduce the topic of the lesson to the students.

Activity 1
*Help the students to study the theory:
1.-Guide the students using the –ing participle.
a. Use the picture on page 108 to set the scene.
-> Give the usage of –ing participle.
2.-Help the students understand how to use the request.
Activity 2
1-Let the students look at the pictures then answer the questions:
+What is the boy doing?
+What is the teacher doing?
-Guide the students use the –ING participle to write the sentences.
-Teacher ask then students answer using the –ING participle. 
-Students ask then teacher answer using the –ING participle to give the correct answer.
-Write the correct answer on the notice-book.
Activity 3
*Help the students to review using the:
Would you mind if……?
Would you mind +V_ing……..?
by doing the works.
-Let the students practice in pairs, in turns.
-Call some pairs to check.
-Teacher as request then ask the students to answer then contrast to give the correct answer.
Consolidation.
(Optional) Students talk about things and people around them.
+Do you mind closing the door?

-Retell the main grammar.

-Explain the requests from the students.

2. Request with: 
 -Would/Do you mind if…….?
-Would/Do you mind + V-ing? 
II. Practice.
1. Look at the people in the school yard at Quang Trung school. Say who each person is.
The boy is reading book.
The teacher is walking.
- The man walking up the stairs is Mr. Quang
- The woman carrying a bag is Mrs.Lien.
- The boy standing next to Miss. Lien is Nam.
- The boy sitting under the tree is Ba.
- The girl standing by the table is Lan.
- The girls playing chess are Nga on the right and Hoa on the left.
 3. Work with a partner. Use these words to make and respond to requests.
 A check(v) means agree to the request, a cross(x) means do not agree.
Would you mind moving your car?
No, of course not.
No, of course not.
b) Would you mind putting out your cigarette?
 - Not at all/ No, of course not.
c) Would you mind getting me some coffee?
- I’m sorry I can’t. I’m too busy right now.
d) Would you mind waiting for a moment?
- I’m sorry I can’t. I’m already late for school/work.
*Home works.
