1. Look, listen and repeat.
Before listening:
- Have pupils to open their books on page 75. Focus their attention on the title of the unit, the pictures and the texts. Get Ss to identify the characters and what happening in the pictures. Set the context: Akio is visiting Ha Noi. She wants to go to many places in the city. Read each line in the pictures, pausing at times to check pupils’ comprehension. Pre-teach the new words: corner, two- minute walk, go straight a head. Write the vocabulary on the board and get Ss to repeat each word a few times. Make sure that Ss can understand the situation and the language in each picture.
While listening:
- Play the recording for pupils to listen through.
- Play the recording twice again for pupils to repeat the lines.
- Have pupils read the lines in groups of three to take turn to say the lines from Akio and other people.
- Have some groups repeat at front of the class, other pupils give comments.
- Feedback.
After listening:
- Let pupils listen and repeat once again.
2. Point ask and answer.
- Have Ss to open their book on page 75. Say “ You are going to practise asking for and give directions.
- Get Ss to read the examples and observe the street maps. Elicit their prompts to complete the speech bubbles.
- Write the question and answer on the board and get Ss to repeat them a few times.

- Point to the maps in turns, read the prompts

WEEK 33 Period: 121 Monday April 28th 2014 UNIT 19: Road Signs Lesson 3: Period 2 (part 3 and 4) (Class: 5A, 5C, 5B, 5D) I. Overview: 1. OBJECTIVES: -By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to read a riddle text about a bus and write sentences with must and mustn’t. 2. LANGUAGE FOCUS: - Vocabulary: +slowdown, block, pick up, get on, get off. 3. TEACHING AIDS: - Student Book : Tieng Anh 5, Unit 19, Page 73, 74. - Audio and visual aids: Recordings, flashcards. II. Task a: - Have pupils open the Student’s book on Page 73. Get Ss to look at the pictures and the title. Tell the pupils the reading purpose: You are going to read a riddle text about a bus and do the tasks that follow. - Recall the meaning of the familiar words and teach the key words: slowdown, block, pick up, get on, get off. Write the key words on the board and get Ss to repeat a few times. Read the passage, stop at times to check students’ comprehension. Make sure that Ss understand the information in the passage and task a: They should observe the pictures and scan the passage quickly to relate the information in the passage to the pictures. Then they put the pictures in the order. - Have Ss do task a independently in 3 minutes. Move around to monitor the activity and offer help as necessary. - Have Ss check their answer in pairs. Call on some pupils to report their answers to the class and get them to explain how they come to the result, the others give comments.
