II. New lesson:

1. Listen and repeat.

- Have pupils to open their books on page 70.

- Stick the large- sized sheet of paper with this section written on it on the board.

- Tell pupils they are going to learn how to produce the sounds of the letters br as in zebra and those of the letters cr as in crossing.

- Produce the sound br and cr a few times and ask pupils to repeat zebra, crosing.

- Play the recording twice.

- Guide Ss practice reading zebra, crosing.

 - Call on some Ss say the words in front of the class. T correct mistake(s).

- Have whole class read aloud the words.

 2. Listen and read together.

Before listening:

- Get SS to observe the pictures and read the texts. Elicit their comments on the pictures and the texts.

- Read each line of the chant, stop at times to check students’ comprehension.

- Have Ss repeat sentence by sentence.

- Model: read the chant, clapping: zebra(1 clap), bring(1 clap), crossing(2 claps), cross( two claps. Group the words into two columns on the board corresponding to the number of claps.

- Get Ss to clap in the same way as you read the dialogue again.

- While listening:

- Play the recording.

- Play the recording again for Ss to clap at the focused words.

After listening:

- Have Ss work in groups read the chant and clap their hands.

- Feed back: Call out some groups read the chant in front of the class. T give remark and correct mistake(s).

Lesson 1: Period 2 (part 3 and 4)

I. Overview:
1. OBJECTIVES: 
-By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to listen and circle the sentences, ask and answer questions about road signs.
2. LANGUAGE FOCUS:
 - Sentence patterns:
 + What does the sign mean? - It means________.
3. TEACHING AIDS:
- Student Book : Tieng Anh 5, Unit 19, Page 69.
- Audio and visual aids: Recordings, flashcards, some pictures.

I. Warm-up: 
- Display their homelink drawing of road signs and answer possible questions about their work.
II. New lesson:
3. Listen and circle:
- Have pupils look at the pictures on Page 69 and give them a few seconds to read the text and look at the picture.Tell them the purpose of listening (You are going to listen toMiss Hien, who is checking her pupils’ understanding of the road signs. You should listen and circle the letter indicating the appropriate answer in each number) .
- Tell Ss that they do not need to understand every word. They should make guesses base on the pictures and the contextual clues as they listen.
- Play the recording twice: once for Ss to listen all the way through and once for them to do the task.( pause after each part for Ss to have sufficient time to circle the sentences).
- Replay the recording for Ss to check their answers. 
- Get Ss to correct the answers in pairs.( 1 minute)
- Ask some Ss to report their answers to the class.( If there is disagreement on any answer, play the related part of the recording again).
- Comment: Read out the correct answers to the class.
- Keys: 1b; 2a; 3c; 4.b.
4.Talk:
- Ask Ss to open their book on page 69, look at the road signs and read the instruction. They are going to ask and answer questions about the road signs using the guiding questions.
Make sure they understand the activity. 
- Do the first Ex with the whole class in order to give them a clear idea of how the activity works.
- Guide Ss to work in pairs(in five minutes) to ask and answer questions about road signs.
- Feed back: Call on some pairs to demonstrate the task in front of the class. T give remark or correct mistake(s).

- Have pupils to open their book on page 70. Get Ss to read the texts and make sure they understand the task.Recall the meaning of the words. Say each words and get Ss to repeat it a few times. They are group the words provided with br or cr. Do the first example with the class.
- Ss do the task independently in three minutes. 
 - Let pupils check their answers in pairs.
- Call on some pupils to report answers and the others give comments.

- Have the whole class read in chorus all the words in each column to reinforce their pronunciation.

- Get Ss to open their books on page 71 and observe the pictures and read the sentences. Tell them the listening purpose( You are going to listen to Miss Hien. She is asking her Ss to comment some pictures that she’s showing to them. You should listen and complete the sentences with the missing information as you listen).Get Ss to guess the missing words before they listen to the recording.
- Play the recording twice: once for Ss to listen all the way through and once for them to do the task. Pause after each part to give Ss sufficient time to select and write the missing words.
- Replay the recording for Ss to check their answers.
- Get Ss to check their answers in pairs. Call on a few Ss to report their answers to the class. If there is disagreement on any answer, play the related part of the recording again.

II. New lesson:
1. Look listen and repeat.
- Have pupils to open their books to page 72. Get Ss to look at the pictures and read the text. Elicit their comments on the pictures and set the context: Nam was late for class because he got an accident. Now Miss Hien and Mai are asking him about his accident. Read the lines in the speech bubbles. Stop at times to check students’ comprehension. Teach the word: hit and get Ss to repeat the word a few times.
- Play the recording for pupils to listen all the way through.
- Play the recording twice again for pupils to repeat sentence by sentence.
- Divide the class into two groups to take turns to say the lines in the pictures.
- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat to reinforce their pronunciation.
2. Point, ask and answer.
- Ask Ss to read the example and elicit their prompts to complete the speech bubbles.
- Write the question and answer on the board and get Ss to repeat them a few times in turn.
+ How did it happen? 
- A motorbike rider hit me.
- Point to the pictures, read the prompts and check pupils’ comprehension. Recall and pre –teach the new word: traffic rules. Get Ss to repeat each prompt a few times.
- Model the task with the whole class. 
 - Call on a few pairs go though the task with the rest of the characters in the pictures. Focus on pronunciation and fluency.
- Have pupils practise in pairs to take turn to ask and answer questions using the pictures in their Student’s Book.
- Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation and offer help when necessary.
- Call on some pairs to perform the task in front of the class, others observe and give comments if possible. Praise if the pair do well.
