I. Overview:
1. OBJECTIVES: 
-By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to pronounce correctly the sounds of the letters o and to listen and tick a chart.
2. LANGUAGE FOCUS:

I. Warm up: 
- Read the dialogues on page 63 and clap at the focused words.
II. New lesson:
3. Group and say aloud.
- Have pupils to open their book on page 63. Get Ss to read the instruction, the chart and the word box .Check if Ss understand the activities and the meaning of the focus words. Get Ss to repeat each word a few times. Do the first example with the class. 
- Set the time and let Ss do the task independently ( in five minutes).
- Let pupils check their answers in pairs.
- Call on some pupils to report answers and the others give comments.
Answer:

- Have the whole class read in chorus all the words in each column to reinforce their pronunciation.
4. Listen and tick:
- Get Ss to open their books on page 64 and observe the pictures. Tell them the purpose of listening. Elicit pupils’ comments on the details of the pictures.
- Play the recording twice: once for Ss to listen all the way through and once for them to do the task. Pause after each part to give Ss sufficient time to select and tick.
- Replay the recording for Ss to check their answers.
- Get Ss to check their answers in pairs. Call on a few Ss to report their answers to the class. If there is disagreement on any answer, play the related part of the recording again.

2. LANGUAGE FOCUS:
- Vocabulary: bridge, mount, high.

+ Which city is bigger, Tokyo or London? –Tokyo is.

- Student Book : Tieng Anh 5, Unit 18, Page 65.

I. Warm-up: 
-Ss display their picture for the game “ Slap the picture”. 
II. New lesson:
1. Look listen and repeat.
- Have pupils to open their books on page 65 and look at the pictures. Set the context: Akio is showing some photos of her last holiday to Nam. Recall the meaning and usage of which and the comparative forms of the short adjectives such as bigger, longer and higher. Ask Ss to observe the pictures and elicit their comments on the pictures. Read the lines and check pupils’comprehension.
- Play the recording for pupils to listen all the way through.
- Play the recording twice again for pupils to repeat sentence by sentence.
- Divide the class into two groups to take turns to say the sentences in each picture. 
- Play the recording again for pupils to repeat to reinforce their pronunciation.
- Feed back.
2. Point, ask and answer.
- Ask Ss to read the example and elicit their prompts to complete the speech bubbles.
- Write the questions and the answer on the board and get Ss to repeat them a few times.

- Model the task with the whole class, using the examples. Repeat the step a few times. Call some open pairs to repeat the step with all the pictures.
- Have pupils practise in pairs take turns to ask and answer questions, using the pictures in their Student’s Book. Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation and offer help when necessary.
- Feedback.
- Call on some pairs to perform the task in front of the class using real things or pictures. Praise if the pair has a good performance of pronunciation or language usage.
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation.

- Have pupils open the Student’s book on Page 66. Get Ss to observe the pictures, read the titles and the texts in Task a, band c. Set the context: You are going to read about life in a village of a city and do the tasks that follow. Teach vocabulary: noisy, peaceful, province.Write the key words on the board and get Ss to repeat a few times.
- Read the passage, pausing at times to check pupils’comprehension.
- Have Ss work individually in five minutes read and do Task a. They are toscan the passages to find the opposite of noisy, small and peaceful. Move around to monitor the activity.

Before listening:
- Have pupils to open their books on page 68. Focus their attention on the title of the unit, the pictures and the texts. Point to each picture and elicit students’comments on the pictures.Then say: Today, Miss Hien’s class is going to learn about road signs. Nam was late because he had an accident on his way to school.Teach the new vocabulary: sign, must, mustn’t, trafic rules. Write the new words on the board and get Ss to say the words a few times. Read each line in the pictures, pausing at times to check pupils’ comprehension. Make sure that Ss can understand the situation and the language in each picture.
While listening:
- Play the recording for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books.
- Play the recording twice again for pupils to repeat the lines .
- Have pupils read the lines in groups to take turn to say the lines from Miss Hien, Mai, Phong and Nam.
- Have some groups repeat at front of the class, other pupils give comments.
- Feedback.
After listening:
- Let pupils listen and repeat once again.
