Knowledge By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to write a report on a festival which they have joined b. Skill: - Write a bout a festival using suggested questions or guidelines c. Attitude: -Educate the students the love for subject and tradition. 2. Preparing. a. Teacher’s: student’s book, lesson plan, teacher’s book. b. Students’: student’s book, note books, prepare the lesson carefully. 3. Procedures: a. Checking the old lesson: ( Combined in the lesson) b. The new lesson. Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm up :(5’) - Guide ss to play games: body language + A s uses the word the teacher will give and expresses it by acting actions. Ss say what it means: they can answer in Vietnamese. (Push rod, tug, shoot crossbow, fire -making, water-fetching, rice – cooking) - Introduce the lesson: ? When are those games usually played? ? How do we report them in English? We’ll learn about it today. 2. How long: about 2 hours Activities: Tug of war and Rod – pushing How organized:- Tug of war: pull the rope back until go over the center point. - Rod – pushing: push each other out of the circle. Number of people: Tug of war: ten and Rod-pushing: two Comment: Wonderful/ interesting/ exciting/ happy - Show detailed outline, and ask ss write in 3 groups, (slide 9) The 26th of March festival + festival was held on.. of March in .. . it lasted hours. There were . competitions: ... and.. + ..from each team took .in the Tug of war contest. They had to pick up the ropepull . back and away other team until the marker (or flag) went over center point. +. Rod- pushing contest . from two team had to hold bamboo (or wooden) rod and push each other out of .. + After the contests, points were added .. team won. The festival. - Ask ss to stick their writings on the board - Base on ss’ writing to comment, correct 4. Post-writing (7’) - Ask sts to look at the mixed report and reorder in pairs. (slide 11) 1. This festival is a very special occasion for Vietnamese people and especially for children to play and enjoy on a variety of activities . Moreover, children would understand more about Vietnamese traditions. 2. The festival was held on 15th of August the school yard. The festival lasted 3 hours. There were many activities such as: singing and shouting, wearing masks, parading on the roads and banging the drums. 3. The children were interested in a special cake “Moon cakes”. Children went on playing traditional games until mid-night. 4. The Mid- Autumn festival - Ask 2 pairs to read their key in front of the class. - Comment, correct. Eg: The 26th of March festival The festival was hold on the 26th of March in Van ho lower secondary school yard. It lasted for (about) two hours. There were two competitions: Rod- pushing and Tug of war. In the rod – pushing contest two players from two teams had to hold a bamboo (wooden) rod and push each other out of a circle. Ten people from each team took part in the tug of war contest. They had to pick up the rope and pull it back and away from the other team until the flag went over center point. After the contests, all points were added and 8c team won. The festival was excited. - Discuss in pairs - Answer in front of the class c. Consolidation: (2’) - Recall main content of a report (slide 13) d. Guide sts to study at home: (2’) - Rewrite the report on The 26th of March festival in your notebooks and write a new one on festivals in Van Ho. - Do exercise 9 ( 83) in workbook - Prepare “Language focus” for the next lesson carefully 4.
