1/ Relative pronoun “ which”

“Which” : Ñöôïc duøng ñeå thay theá cho danh töø chæ vaät hoaëc söï vieäc ñöùng tröôùc noù, laøm chuû töø hoaëc taân ngöõ cho meänh ñeà phuï.

* Form :

N ( thing) + which (S) + Verb

Ex1: I saw the lion . It was very fierce.

 I saw the lion which was .

 N( thing) + which(odj) + S + V

Ex2: They told her about the show. They liked the show best.

- Trong meänh ñeà ñieàu kieän, ta coù theå thay lieân töø “if” = “unless”.
- Unless töông ñöông vôùi “if ...not”
* Note : Tröôøng hôïp meïnh ñeà if ôû theå khaúng ñònh khoâng ñöôïc ñoåi sang theå phuû ñònh khi duøng unless maø phaûi ñoåi meänh ñeà chính theo theå ngöôïc laïi

- And ( vaø ) : Laø töø noái ñöôïc duøng ñeå noái caùc töø, cuïm töø hay maïnh ñeà .
- But (nhöng) : Duøng ñeå noái hai yù töông phaûn nhau.
- Or (hay, hoaëc) : Duøng ñeå dieån taû yù löïa choïn
- So ( vì theá, do ñoù):dieãn taû haäu quaû .
- Because ( bôûi vì, do): Dieãn taû nguyeân nhaân, lyù do.
- Therefore (do ñoù, vì theá): Ñoàng nghóa vôùi so, chæ haäu quaû.
- However ( tuy nhieân): Ñoàng nghóa vôùi “but” nhöng “however” luoân luoân noái lieàn hai meänh ñeà, dieãn taû söï töông phaûn.

Adverbial clause of concession( meänh ñeà traïng töø chæ söï nhöôïng boä( töông phaûn) )
- Meänh ñeà traïng töø chæ söï nhöôïng boä thöôøng ñöôïc giôùi thieäu bôûi moät trong caùc lieân töø : although, even though, though. ( Maëc daàu, daãu cho, cho duø)
* Form :

* Usage : Duøng ñeå dieãn taû yù traùi ngöôïc vôùi meänh ñeà chính .
* Note :
“ Although”, “though”. “even though” khoâng duøng vôùi “but”
- Though vaø although coù cuøng nghóa . Even though coù nghóa maïnh hôn though vaø although.
- Meänh ñeà traïng ngöõ chæ söï nhöôïng boä coù theå ñöùng tröôùc hoaëc sau meänh ñeà chính; neáu meänh ñeà chæ nhöôïng boä ñöùng tröôùc, phaûi coù daáu phaåy.
Ex1: The workers go on working even though it’s getting dark.
Ex2: Although it’s raining, Nam goes to school.
Ex3: Although studying hard, Nam fail the exam

1/ Who : Ñöôïc duøng ñeå thay theá cho danh töø chæ ngöôøi. Noù luoân luoân ñöùng tröôùc moät ñoäng töø vaø ñöùng sau danh töø chæ ngöôøi. Nhieäm vuï laøm chuû töø cho meänh ñeà phuï.

2/ Relative pronoun “that”
“That”: Ñöôïc duøng ñeå thay theá cho danh töø chæ ngöôøi hoaëc vaät. “that” coù theå ñöôïc duøng ñeå thay cho who, whom, which.
* Notes : “That” coù theå duøng ñeå noái hai meâïnh ñeà chính vaø phuï trong tröôøng hôïp ôû meänh ñeà chính coù caùc töø nhö : a few, all, every, the first, last.... vaø daïng so saùnh nhaát.
Ex: There are a few things. We can do them.
There are a few things that we can do.
3/ Relative pronoun “whose” 
“Whose” : Ñöôïc duøng ñeå chæ söï sôû höõu cho danh töø chæ ngöôøi hoaëc vaät ñöùng tröôùc. Danh töø sau whose khoâng coù maïo töø .
* Form :
 Whose + N + Verb
Ex : The schoolgirl is my friend. Her hair is long .
 The schoolgirl whose hair is long is my friend.
* Notes : Who, whom, which , that coù theå boû qua khi laøm taân ngöõ trong meänh ñeà quan heä xaùc ñònh. 
III/ Practice: 
Combine each pair of sentences, using which, that, whose.
1/ The fish was not good . I ate it yesterday.
2/ The flowers are still fresh. I cut them this morning.
