I use English for different purposes in my everyday life. Firstly, English helps me communicate with people all over the word. I have made friends with some students from the UK and Australia. I use English to chat with them about many things. Secondly, English helps me get information and improve my knowledge. Because almost any information is available in English, it is easy for me to get access to all sources of information with my English. Finally, English is useful when I want to go abroad to study. A lot of schools and universities in different countries which provide scholarships and courses in English. I am learning English hard to get an IELTS score of 6.5 so that next year I can go to Australia to study. In conclusion, English is useful for me in various ways.

Almost a hundred of thousand people were killed and half a milion homes destroyed as a result of an earthquake in Tokyo in 1923. The earthquake began a minute before noon when the inhabitants of Tokyo were cooking their midday meals. Thousands of stoves were overturned as soon as the earth began to shake. As a result, small fire broke out everywhere and qiukdly spead. The fire engines were prevented from going to help because many of the roads had craked open. It was impossible to use fire fighting equipment as most of the water pipes had burst. Consequently, over ninety percent of damage was caused by fire rather than by the collapse of the buildings. Most of those who died were not killed in the earthquake itself but in the fires, which followed. If the earthquake had occurred at night while people were sleeping, far fewer would have died.

Drought is a condition that becomes when the average rainfall for a fertile area drops far below the normal amount for a long period of time. In areas which eare not irritated, the lack of rain causes farm crops to wither and daed. Higher than normal temperatures ussualy accompany periods of drought. They add to thee crop damage. Forest fires start easily during drought. The soil of a drought area becomes dry and crumbles. Often the rich topsoil is blown away by the hot, dry winds. Streams, ponds, and wells often dry up during a drought, and animal suffer and may even die because the lack of water.
