Notes: Adverbial phrase gives extra information about the time, place, manner, etc. of an action. Adverbial phrases are made with nouns, prepositions or infinitive. They can be used to answer different questions. Type/ question Example Time (When) The festival of the Sun is held on June 24th. Place (Where?) The festival is celebrated in Peru. Frequency (how often?) The festival takes place every year. Reason (why?) People attend the festival for fun. A lot of people go to Cusco, Peru to attend the festival. Manner (how?) People celebrate it with street fairs and live music. 2. Now look at the webpage. Complete the table about the festival. (textbook, page 29) Answer key What? A film festival Who?
