Ask Ss to identify the characters in the picture on page 66 and and guess what they are talking about. Set the scene “Nam and Linda are talking about Tim-Nam's new classmate ” Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording and repeat the dialogue between class, Nam and Linda. Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen as they read the lines. Mime the dialogue. Replay the tape, pausing after each line for pupils repeat. Devide the class into two groups. Ask some pairs of pupils to practice the dialouge. 2.Look and say Have Ss look at the pictures a, b, c, d, e and f on page 66. Tell them to identify the physical appearance of the pupil in the picture. Use pictures to teach the new words. - Teacher presents the model sentence * Model sentence What does he/she look like? He/She is short. Do the task with pupils as a model. - Ask pupils to work in pairs to practise using the words under each picture as a cue. Call on some pairs to demonstrate at the front of the class. Others observe and comment. Have the whole class repeat all the questions to reinforce their pronunciation. 3.Talk Have Ss look at the picture on page 67 and identify the physical appearance of the pupil in the picture. Use picture “a” to do the task with one pupil as a model. Have Ss to repeat the lines in the bubbles a few times before letting them practice freely. Have Ss to work in pairs to practice. Call on some volunteers to perform the task. Have the whole class repeat all the sentences to reinforce their pronunciation. 4. Listen and tick - Ask pupils to look at the pictures on page 67. - Help them to identify the pupils'appearance in the pictures. - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording and tick the correct picture. 1st: Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen while they are looking the pictures in their books. 2nd: play the tape for Ss to listen and tick the correct ps. - Ask some ss to exchange their answers with their partners. 3rd: play the recording for Ss to check their answers. Procedures: Steps/Activities Work arrangement I.Warm up: Ask pupils write the school subjects they have learnt. II.New lesson: 1.Listen and repeat Ask ss to open their books on page 68. Tell them that they are going to pronounce correctly the sound of the letters a as in tall and those of the letters i as in slim. Stick a large-sized sheet of paper with the chant on the board and tell pupils to look at the chant on it. Play the recording and ask pupils to pronounce the focus sounds a few times as a model. Play the chant again. Have Ss repeat each line and point to each line of the chant. Call on a group of six: three of them to repeat each line of the chant, other three clap the focus sounds. - Call on a group to recite the chant. others clap the syllables. - Have ss recite the chant to reinforce their pronunciation. 2.Listen and number. Have Ss look at Pictures a, b, c, d on Page 68 and identify the ss as well as their appearance in these ps. Set the scene: “you are going to listen to the recording and number the correct picture you hear” 1st:Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen while they are looking the pictures in their books. - 2nd: replay the tape for Ss to listen &number the correct ps. Choose one or two Ss to share their answers. 3rd: play the recording for Ss to check their answers. Have Ss trade their answers in pairs for correction. * Answers: 1- b; 2 – d ; 3- c ; 4- a; 3. Objectives: - By the end of this lesson, SS will be able to review the phonics, the vocabulary and the sentence patterns from Units 1 – 10. - Do the test well. II. Procedures: 1. Phonics: - Put the piece of paper with the phonics written on the board and play the tape. SS follow the tape and read aloud. - Draw SS’ attention to the sounds that are difficult to pronounce. - SS practice reading the words aloud. Have some pairs demonstrate. - Correct their pronunciation when necessary. - Call on some pairs to demonstrate at the front of the class. Others observe and give comments. 2. Vocabulary: - Put the vocabulary sheet of paper on the board. - SS recall the meanings of the words by reading aloud or playing a game.
