Period 15. UNIT 3: THIS IS TONY

Lesson 1 (4 6)

A. Objective:

 By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to listen, write and speak about how to introduce someone.

B. Teaching aids: Textbook, chalk, board, ruler, computer, speaker.

C. Procedures:

Warm - up: Ask Ss to introduce someone

4. Listen and tick:

- Tell pupils that they are going to listen and tick the correct boxes. Give a few seconds for pupils to look at the pictures. Elicit the name of each character and what they might say to one another. Give feedback.

- Play the recording three times for pupils to listen, do the task and check their answers.

- Get pupils to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.

5. Look and write:

- Tell pupils that they are going to look at the pictures and fill the gaps. Give a few seconds for pupils to look at the pictures and read the text in silence. Check comprehension and give feedback. Elicit the words to fill the gaps. Remind pupils to write the initial letter of the word at the beginning of each sentence in capital letters.

- Get pupils to swap and check their answers before calling two open pairs to read aloud the dialogues. Write the correct answers on the board for pupils to copy down into their notebooks.

6. Let’s sing:

- Tell pupils that they are going to sing the How are you? song. Teach the song, following the procedure in the Teaching the unit components in the Introduction.

- Sing each line of the song and have pupils repeat a few times.

- Ask groups of pupils to sit face to face and practise singing and clapping.

- Divide the class into three groups and sing the song.

Period 13. UNIT 2: WHAT’S YOUR NAME?
Lesson 3 (4" 6)
A. Objectives: 
 	By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read, speak about names and how to spell names
B. Teaching aids: Textbook, chalk, board, ruler, computer, speaker.
C. Procedures:
Warm-up: Spend a few minutes having the class sing The alphabet song and saying the What’s your name? chant.
4. Read and match: 
- Tell pupils that they are going to read the sentences on the left and pair them with those on the right by drawing a line between them. Give a few seconds for pupils to read the text in silence. Check comprehension. Use the first pair of sentences as an example. Get pupils to work in pairs.
- Give pupils time to do the task. Go around to offer help, if necessary.
- Get pupils to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. Give feedback.
- Call a few pairs to read the dialogues.

5. Read and complete: 
- Tell pupils that they are going to read and fill the gaps with the appropriate words. 
- Give a few seconds for pupils to read the texts. Check comprehension.
- Give pupils time to do the task. Go around to offer help, if necessary.
- Get pupils to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. Write the correct answers on the board for pupils to copy down into their notebooks.
- Do choral and individual repetition.

6. Project:
- Tell pupils that they are going to collect the names of their classmates and write them on a sheet of paper. Allow pupils time to carry out the project in class.
- Call individual pupils to the front of the class to present the collected names and spell them. Finally, tell pupils to post their work on the walls of the classroom.
- Have the class sing The alphabet song and say the What’s your name? chant to end the class.

Lesson 1 (1" 3)
A. Objectives: 
 By the end of this unit, pupils can use the words and phrases related to the topic Introduction; introduce someone, using This is + (name).
B. Teaching aids: cards.
C. Procedures:
Warm - up: Let’s sing a song: The alphabet song
1. Look, listen and repeat
- Call one student to stand near the teacher and introduce her/him to class: This is Lan
- Ask Ss to say: Hello,. Nice to meet you
- Show the card: This is Lan and ask Ss to repeat.
- Give the meaning of some words: this, is, and, hello
- Continue to introduce two students: This is Lan. And this is Phong
- Check new words through the game.
2. Point and say
- Call one by one and ask Ss to introduce.
S: This is.
Class: Hello,. Nice to meet you.
- Give comments.
3. Let’s talk
- Organise a game for students: Pass the ball/ box
- Give the rule of the game: You listen to music and pass the ball to your friend. When the music stops,the pupil takes the ball and has to introduce your friend to class. If you can’t introduce someone, you give a punishment.
- Set the time limit for Ss to play.
- Control the game and give feedback.

Lesson 2 (1" 3)
A. Objectives: 
 By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask and answer questions about someone, using Is this/ Is that + (name)?
B. Teaching aids: Ss’ book, chalk, board , radio ect. 
C. Procedures:
Warm - up: Sing a song “How are you?”
Look, listen and repeat
Do the actions to introduce: this, that
Call one student to stand far away from the teacher and say: Is that Nam? Yes, it is. Is that Lam? No, it isn’t.
Ask Ss to repeat. Then show a small board for Ss to repeat.
Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking.
2. Point and say
- Tell pupils that they are going to practise asking and answering questions about someone, using Is that + (name)? 
- Point to some Ss and ask the questions and class answer. Then teacher asks and one student answers. 
- Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters.
- Get pupils to work in groups of three. Check as a class.
3. Let’s talk
Tell pupils that they are going to practise more with their friends. Ask them to ask and answer.
Tell students the difference between two questions. 
 Is this Ly?
 Is that Hoa?
Give feedback.
