Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask and answer the questions about where a school is . B. Language focus - Vocab: street, village, map - Structures: Where is Trang An School?- It’s in Nguyen Du street. C. Teaching aids: S’s book, pictures, audio and visual aids. D. Procedures Procedures Learning activities/ Tasks Way/ Mode I. Warm-up - ask Ss to say their school name and address whole class II. Look, listen & repeat * Pre- stage - have Ss open their books at part 1 on page 42 - have Ss look at the picture and identify the characters : Who are they?- Miss Hien and Akio - tell Ss that they are going to look at the dialogue, listen to the recording and repeat the dialogue between Akio and Miss Hien. - teach new words: street, map whole class * While- stage - play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen and point to each line - play the recording again, pause after each line for Ss to repeat - divide Ss into two groups, ask the groups to repeat Akio’s and Miss Hien’s parts then exchanging the roles individually whole class half- half * Post- stage - read the dialogue in pairs - make a few questions to check Ss’ comprehension of the dialogue - have the W. C repeat all the phrases to reinforce their pronunciation pair work whole class III. Look & say * Pre- speaking - have Ss look at the pictures a, b, c, d on page 42. T: It’s in Quang Trung Street . whole class * While- speaking - ask Ss to practise in pairs, using the pictures and the word cues under each picture - monitor the activity, check pronunciation and offer help when necessary. pair work * Post- speaking - call on some pairs to perform, correct pronunciation errors - have Ss repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation pair work whole class IV. Language focus: - Structures: review - Phonics: School, street C. Teaching aids: S’s book, pictures, audio and visual aids. D. Procedures Procedures Learning activities/ Tasks Way/ Mode I. Warm-up - ask some Ss to write the name of their school and its address on the board whole class II. Listen & repeat *Pre- stage - have Ss open the books, turn to page 44 of the Ss book and look at the part 1 - have Ss look at the words school, street, comment the letters coloured differently in these words. Draw Ss’ attention to the sounds of the letters sch as in school and those of the letters str as in street. Tell them to listen and pronounce these sounds correctly. - ask Ss to look at the chant, pronounce the focused sounds a few times as a model whole class * While- stage - play the recording for Ss to listen and repeat the chant. Repeat the step when necessary - ask some Ss say the chant, paying particular attention to the pronunciation of the sounds of the letters sch and those of the letters str - monitor the activity and offer help, correct pronunciation errors whole class group work * Post- stage - call on some Ss to recite the chant in front of the class - have the W. C repeat the chant to reinforce their pronunciation - have Ss circle all the words containing the focus the sounds of the letters sch and those of the letters str in the chant Group work whole class individually III.
