I. Warm up
- Ask sts to read the chant on page 10 individually and chorally.
II. New lesson
Week: 3. Teaching date: 05/0 9/ 2020 Period: 5. Unit 1: Hello Lesson 2: Part 4, 5, 6 A. Aim: By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - Greet and respond to greetings, using How are you? And I’m fine, thanks. And you? - Say goodbye using Goodbye/Bye. B. Language focus - Vocabulary: fine, thanks, thank you, bye, goodbye. - Structure: How are you? I’m fine, thanks. And you? C. Resources: Books, teachers’ book, notebooks, cards and cassette. D. Procedure: I. Warm up - Spend a few minutes revising Hi/ Hello. How are you? I’m fine, thank you. - Have sts to play the Slap the board game, using the name of the characters: Miss Hien, Mai, nam, Quan, Hoa and Phong. - Lead in the new lesson. II. New lesson Listen and number - Ask sts to tell about the differences between the pictures. + Tell sts the way to listen. - Give instruction. - Play the tape all the way through for sts to listen. - Ask sts to listen again and number. - Ask sts to compare with their partners. - Call on some sts to check their answers. - Give feedback by opening the tape once and check. Key: 1. d 2.c 3.b 4.a Read and complete. - Tell sts that they are going to read ad fill the gaps with the appropriate words. - Give sts few seconds to read the text in silence. - Check comprehension and give feedback. - Give sts time to do the task and go around and offer help if necessary - Get sts to work in pairs. - Get sts to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. - Divide the class into two groups and get them to read aloud each character’s lines respectively. Aim: By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - Practice 2 sounds / b/ and /h/ . - Develop listening, writing skills. - Know how to read the chant “ Hello”. B. Language focus - Vocabulary: Hello, bye - Structure: review C. Resources: Books, teachers’ book, notebooks, cards and cassette. D. Procedure: I. Warm up * Game: Rainbow - Some pupils make two lines. Two first ones from each team hold hands. Some others go through the hands when the music plays. As the music stops, the ones who are the rainbow must ask: How are you? .The one who is caught must answer: “I’m fine, thank you./ thanks”. - Lead in the new lesson. II. New lesson 1. Listen and repeat - Have sts to open the book page 10, draw their attention to the letters colored differently in the words Bye and Hello - Produce the sound of the letter b and h - Have sts repeat the focused sounds a few times. - Play the recording twice and ask Ss to repeat - Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary/ correct typical pronunciation errors. - Call on someone to pronounce. - Have the whole class recite the chant to reinforce their pronunciation. 2. Listen and write - Ask sts to turn to Page 10 of the Student Book. _____________, Nam. _____________, Mai. - Give instruction. - Play the tape twice. - Ask them to listen and write the answers. - Call someone to write on the board, check sts’ notebook. - Check and correct mistakes. - Ask Ss to read aloud 2 sentences. 3. Let’s chant - Show the chart of the chant “Hello” (Hello. I’m Mai) 2 (Hello. How are you?) 2 ( Hi, Mai) 2 ( Fine, thank you.) 2 (I’m Nam) 2 ( And you?) 2 (Nice to meet you) 2 ( Fine, thank you.) 2 - Play the tape a few times. - Ask sts to read aloud each line in the song and clap their hands. - Ask them to listen again and repeat. - Have sts practice the chant in pairs. - Call each group, then pairs to perform. - Correct and comment. - Play the tape once to reinforce their pronunciation. III. Reinforcement - In this lesson, sts have learned how to pronounce 2 sounds / b/, /h/. - Educate sts about greetings. IV. Aim: By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - Ask and answer questions about one’s name. - Develop speaking skill, listening skill. - Sts know how to play White and Black rabbits game. B. Language focus - The vocabulary: What, name, my, your, is - The structure: - What is your name? - My name’s + name. C. Resources: Books, teachers’ book, notebooks, cards and cassette. D. Procedure: I. Warm up - Review sts the names of boys and girls. - State the way to play. - Ask sts to work in groups of 6 - Which group orders the words fastest and correct is winner. - Set the scene: Our rabbits are very difficult. They only eat the fit words with them. Now let’s find right words for two rabbits. Play a game: White and black rabbits Girls’ names Boys’ name - Lead in the new lesson. II. New lesson 1. Look, Listen and repeat - Tell ss that they are going to practise introducing themselves and responding to the introduction (Vietnamese). - Point to the S1 and ask sts to look at the text in speech bubbles. Use a poster or two character puppets to present the situation. - Explain the meaning of the language practised. Name: tên What: cái gì Is: là My: của tôi Your: của bạn Note: Name’s = name is What’s= What is - Play the recording all the way through for sts to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for sts to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. - Practise with sts. - Divide the class into 2 groups. Ask sts to practice in pairs. - Go round and check sts to be able to repeat and understand the dialogue. - Have ss look picture b and ask ss : How does Linda ask Mai? + Ask ss: How does Mai answer? - Elicit ss to give sentences Linda : What’s your name? Mai : My name’name. - Elicit ss to give structure about asking and answering someone’s name. What’s your name? My name’s + name. 2. Point and say - Have pupils look at pictures. - Point to each character in the picture and elicit the name and the words to fill the gaps. - Write the whole sentences on the board. - Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Ask sts work in pairs. - Call some pairs practice in front of the class. - Check sts’ mistake when necessary. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. 3. Let’s talk. - Run through. - Give instruction. - Get sts to work in groups of three to interact. - Call a few pairs to practise in front of the class. - Check ss’ pronunciation. III.
