SHORT STORY
A. Objectives: By the end of the period, Ps can read identify general ideas, read, listen and understand a short story about cat and mouse.
Skills: Reading, listening, writing, speaking.
Tasks: Read the story. Put these lines in the correct pubbles. Correct the answres. Unscramble these words from the conversation. Complete the conversation between Miu and Mimi.
B. Procedures :
1. Redad the story. Put the lines in the correct bubbles. Then listen and check.
- Tell Ps that they are gpoing to read the story and put the four questions in the correct bubbles.
- Ask Ps to to work in small groups. Then play the recording for them to check their answers.
- Before Ps read the story, Ask them to look at the pictures and ask them questions.

- Give Ps time to fill the gaps. Then ask them to practise the conversation in groups of three. Play the recording three times for Ps to listen, check their answers and understand the story.
Monday, March 22nd 2021 Week:26 Period:101+102 Review 3 A.Objectives: By the end of the period, Ps can listen, read and identify specific information about family members, things in their houses, positions, toys. Skills: Reading,writing,listening, Tasks: Listen and tick, Listen and number, read and complete, read and match, look and say. B. Procedures : 1. Listen and tick. - Tell Ps that they are going to listen and tick the correct boxes. Give Ps a few seconds to look at the pictures. Check comprehension and elicit information in the pictures and give feedback. - Play the recording three times for Ps to listen, do the task and check their answers. - Get Ps to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. Explain the answers and give further support to Ps who got more than half of the answers wrong. Audio script 1. Peter: Who’s that? Mai: That’s my father. 2. Mai:This is my bedroom. Linda: Oh, it’s nice. 3. Nam: Where’s your yo-yo? Tony: It’s there, on the chair. 4. Tony: Are there any maps in your bedroom? Mai: Yes, there are two. 5. Nam: Do you have a robot? Give a few seconds for Ps to read the text in silence. There 6. They 4. Read and match. - Tell Ps that they are going to read the sentences on the left and pair them with those on the right by drawing a line between them. Give a few seconds for Ps to read in silence. Check comprehension and give feedback. - Give Ps time to do the task. - Get Ps to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. - Have a few pairs act out the dialogues. Key: 1c, 2a, 3d, 4b. 5. Look and say. - Tell Ps that they are going to do some dialogues. Give a few seconds for Ps to look at the pictures and read the text in silence. Check comprehension and elicit the words to fill the gaps and give feedback. - Get Ps to work in pairs. Go around to offer help, if necessary. - Call a few pairs to act out the dialogues. Give them a few seconds to read the questions and underline the keywords in the questions. Then ask them to read the story again and find out what is wrong with the answer, and correct them. - Get Ps time to do the task. - Ask Ps to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. - Call a few pairs to read the questions and answers aloud. Aim: By the end of the period, pupils will be able to ask and answer questions about pets. II. Language focus : Sentence patterns: Do you have any pets? Yes, I do. No, I don’t. Vocabulay: parrots, rabbit, goldfish, pet. III. Resources : student book( page 40), posters, recordings. B. Procedures: I. Warm up: Kim’s game with animals. 1.Vocabulay: golfish: con cá vàng( What is this?) parrot: con vẹt rabbit: con thỏ pet: con vật yêu. Checking: slap the board. 2. Look, listen and repeat. - Whole class: Have Ps turn their books to page 40. Focus their attention on the title of the unit and ask them to identify the characters in the pictures. Point to each picture and ask: What is this? ( dog) Who is this?( point to Mai) Who is he?( point to Quan) Where are they? ( in the garden) Tell Ps that they are going to listen to the dialogue between them and mother talking about a lion. Use a poster and two puppets to present the situation. - Play the recording again all the way through for Ps to listen. - Play the recording again for Ps to repeat each line in the speech bubbles as they point to it. - Have one Ps repeat each part. Repeat the step, but this time have the group swap their parts. Have the whole class repeat all the phrases a few times to reinforce their pronunciation. 3. Look and say. - Have Ps look at the pictures in their books on page 40 and set up the context: We’re going to practice asking and answering about pets. T and Ps read in chorus the model sentences. - Model the task with the whole class: Point to the picture a cats and ask: What are they? Class: cats - Repeat the step with some other pairs for the rest pictures - Have Ps practise using the pictures in their books. Monitor the activity and offer help. Correct pronunciation error(s) when necessary. - Call on some perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation 4. Listen and tick. a.Pre- listening. - Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 19. How many questions are there? ( three) What are they talking about? Mai: Thanks, Mum. - Play the recording all the way through for ss to listen, as they look closely at the pictures in their books - Play the recording again for ss to listen and tick the correct pictures - Replay the recording for ss to check their answers. Have ss trade their answer in groups for correction. Key: 1.a, 2.b, 3a. c. Post- listening: - Play the recording again for the whole to listen to reinforce their pronunciation. Ask a few questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text. - Repeat the step with some other pairs for the rest pictures - Have ss practise acting out the dialogue in pairs, using the pictures in their books. Monitor the activity and offer help. - Call on some perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation 5. Read and complete. a. Pre- reading: - Whole class: have ss look at part 5, ask them to identify and describe the things in the pictures. What is it? - Tell ss that they are going to read the text and use the given words to fill in the gaps . b. While - reading. - Have ss do the task individually and fill in the gaps, monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. - Have ss trade their answers in pairs for correction - Call on some ss to report their answers, the rest of the class listen and give comments. - Give answer keys: 1. here 2. here 3. here 4. there c. Post- reading: - Have the whole class read each line of the texts in chorus to reinforce their pronuciation. - Make a few questions to check ss’ comprehension of the sentences. 6. Let’s sing. - Tell Ps that they are going to sing the song The poster and the ball. What is the song talking about? (about the poster and the ball) - Sing each line of the lyrics and have Ps repeat it a few times. When Ps are familiar with the tune, show them how to sing the song and do the actions. - Give the meaning of the new vocabulary.
