Teaching date:23/11/2020 Week:10 Period:33 SHORT STORY A.Objectives: By the end of the period, Ps can read identify general ideas,read, listen and understand a short story. Skills: Reading,listening, writing, Tasks: Read and listen to the story,complete the conversation, Work in pairs, match the questions with the answers. B. Procedures : 1. Read and listen to the story. - Tell Ps that they are going to read and listen the first of the four cartoons about Miu the cat and Chit the Mouse. - Help Ps get the idea of the story, simply let them read and listen to this episode. In later episodes, the intital task will be more challenging. - Before Ps listen, ask them to look at the pictures and ask them questions. Eg : Apart from the cat and mouse, what can you see? ( A chair, a door, a window, etc.) 2. Complete the conversation. - Tell Ps that they are going to read and fill the gaps. Give them a few seconds to read the text in silence, and check their comprehension. - Get Ps time to do the task. - Ask Ps to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. Key: 1. I’m 5. Use your names - Tell Ps that they are going to practise the dialogues, using their own names. - Ask groups of four Ps to sit face to face and practise the dialogues. - Call a few pairs to act out the dialogue. Correct the pronunciation, if necessary. 4. Match the questions with the answers. - Tell Ps that they are going to read the questions on the left and pair them with the answers on the right by drawing a line between them. Give them a few seconds to read the text and check comprehension. - Give Ps time to do the task. - Ask Ps to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. - Call a few pairs to read the dialogues aloud. New language: Vocabulary: Be quiet = Don’t talk, open, close. Structures: Commands C. Procedures : I.Warm up : Say the chant Who’s that? and sing the The more we are together song. II.New lesson: 1. Look, listen and repeat. - Tell Ps that they are going to practise giving and responding to classroom instructions. Point to the first picture and elicit the names of the teacher: Mr Loc. Then explain what the characters say and the meaning of the new vocabulary. Have Ps repeat the text in the pubbles a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Play the recording for Ps to listen and say along. 2. Point, say and do the actions - Tell Ps that they are going to practise giving and acting out classroom instructions. Point to each instruction and check comprehension. Teach the new vocabulary. Review and make clear some used instructions everyday such as sit down, stand up, open your book, close your book. - Demonstrate the actions. Have Ps act each instructions a few times. - Get Ps to work in pairs, taking turns to say and act out the instructions. Check as a class. Language note: Be quiet! = Don’t talk! = Keep silient! 3. Let’s talk. - Tell Ps that they are going to pratise more with their friends. Give a few seconds for Ps to look at the pictures. Elicit the words to fill the gaps in theintructions. Write them on the board and do choral and individual repetition. - Get Ps to work in pairs, taking turns to say and act out the instructions. Go around to offer help and correct the pronunciation, if necessary. - Call a few pairs to act out the instructions in front of the class. Language note: Use please to make the instructions more polite. D. Homelink: Practise saying and acting out the instructions.
