Aims and Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: Knowlwdge: - be provided with the vocabulary, ideas and description of some jobs. Skills: - talk about ambitions and dreams related to future jobs or careers - Perform their viewpoints to other people in real life, share and give responses to new information. Attitudes: - be aware of their own ambitions and dreams related to future jobs or careers, so that they can have suitable orientation of future career. Timing:45 mins Assumed knowledge and Skills: - Ss are provided with vocabulary and some ideas in the previous lessons. - Ss learnt the structures to express ambitions and dreams. Anticipated Problems and Possible Solution: - Ss may lack of ideas to talk about descriptions of some jobs; therefore, T should provide Ss with some ideas. Teaching aids:textbooks, board, notebooks and handouts. Teaching pwocedure: STEP/ ACTIVITY Aims and Mode of interaction T’s Activities Ss’ Activities WARM-UP(5mins) Activity 1: Play Kim’s game Aim: Raise Ss’ interest in learning, and activate Ss’ background knowledge of jobs and career. Interaction: group work - Ask Ss to work in 2 groups, look at the list of 10 jobs in 1 minute - Have Ss write the jobs on the board in 2 minutes - check - inform the class of the lesson objective: Talking about the ambitions and dreams related to future jobs or careers. - look at the list of 10 jobs and try to remember them as many as possible. - write the jobs on the board PRE-SPEAKING (10mins) Activity 2: (5mins) complete the discussion Activity 3: (5mins) Find the expressions to talk about their ambitions and dreams Aim: - prepare Ss for the later speaking activity by providing them with a sample conversation and some ideas. - focus on finding the expressions used to talk about ambitions and dreams Interaction:Individual, pair and group work - Ask student to read the conversation and the sentences (a-f). Then do 1.(textbook P.51) - Let Ss work individually - Check the answers as a class. -Have Ss fill the gaps with the expressions in the conversation, and then compare their answers in pairs - Check the answers - Read the conversation and the sentences (a-f). - Complete the conversation with the appropriate sentences - Key: 1. POST-SPEAKING (18mins) Activity 5: Discuss (8mins) Activity6: (10mins) Make a conversation Aim: provide freer speaking practice and helps Ss to further develop their communication skills. Interaction:group work - Divide Ss in to 4 groups (nuclear groups) - Have Ss discuss the questions: What are the advantages of the job? What are you going to to after leaving school to make your dream come true? - Ask Ss to form extended groups (each member comes from a nuclear group in activity 5) - Ask Ss to use the expressions in 2 to make a similar conversation about their own ambitions and dreams. - Work in groups - Discuss the questions - Work in groups of 4. - Use the expressions in 2 to make a similar conversation about their own ambitions and dreams.
